Ausgabe von „Talente mit Perspektive“ so langsam Routine einkehren müsste – es ist doch immer wieder etwas Besonderes, wenn sich die 96 besten deutschen Basketball- Nachwuchstalente (weibliche U14 und männliche U13) treffen. Im Olympiastützpunkt Heidelberg kämpfen sie am kommenden Wochenende (11. und 12. April 2015) um den Einzug in die „ING-DiBa Perspektivkader 2015“, die so etwas wie die inoffiziellen Nationalmannschaften in diesen Altersklassen sind. „Talente mit Perspektive“ ist ein Projekt des Deutschen Basketball Bundes (DBB) und seinem Partner, der ING-DiBa, das 2008 gestartet wurde. Die 96 Jungen und Mädchen haben sich bei insgesamt vier Vorauswahlturnieren für das jetzt stattfindende Finale qualifiziert. Für die Mädchen des Jahrgangs 2001 führte der Weg nach Heidelberg über Osnabrück (Nord und West) bzw. Dessau-Roßlau (Süd und Ost) und für die Jungen des Jahrgangs 2002 über Bremerhaven (Nord und West) bzw. Ulm (Süd und Ost). Turnier unter den Augen der DBB-Bundestrainer In Heidelberg treffen die Talente nun in den Mannschaften aufeinander, für die sie bei den Vorauswahlturnieren nominiert wurden. Die Mannschaften werden jeweils von zwei ausgewählten Landestrainern betreut. Alle Mädchen- Teams und alle Jungen-Teams treffen im Modus „Jeder gegen Jeden“ aufeinander. Im Vordergrund steht allerdings nicht so sehr die Leistung der Mannschaften, sondern die der einzelnen Spielerinnen und Spieler. Sie wollen und sollen sich und ihr Können vor den aufmerksamen Augen der Sichter präsentieren. Erstmals mit dabei sind als hauptamtliche Bundestrainer des DBB Chris Fleming (Herren, nur Samstagvormittag) und Stefan Mienack (weibliche Jugend). Komplettiert wird das Sichter-Team durch die Bundestrainer Frank Menz (U20 männlich), Alan Ibrahimagic (U18 männlich), Harald Stein (U16 männlich), Kay Blümel (U15 männlich), Aleksandra Kojic (U20 weiblich), Imre Szittya (U16 weiblich), Ehrenbundestrainer Bernd Röder und Michael Kasch aus dem DBB-Trainerstab.

THOMPSON SIGNS FIRST PRO CONTRACT IN THE NETHERLANDS BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Former WKU Basketball guard Darius Thompson has inked his first professional contract, signing with Zorg en Zekerheid Basketball Leiden in the Netherlands. ZZ Leiden competes in the Dutch Basketball League. The team has won the national championship three times, the NBB Cup twice and the Dutch Basketball Supercup twice. Thompson, a 6-foot-4 guard from Murfreesboro, Tenn., joined the Hilltoppers for the 2017-18 season as a graduate transfer from Virginia. He left his mark on the program in just one year, starting all 38 games, averaging 35.6 minutes per contest and earning a spot on the All-Conference USA Second Team. Thompson averaged 13.6 points, 4.8 assists and 4.2 rebounds for WKU, while netting a team- high 54 made 3-pointers.
