MUSIC PANEL Ed Argenziano, Clearwater, FL Mr. Edward D. Argenziano received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Ed. from William Paterson University, and Masters of Arts Degree, Music Performance, from Montclair State University. Edward has been a teacher of secondary schools in for 30 years, as well as the former Fine Arts Department Chairperson & Director of Bands and Orchestras at Clearwater High School. He has also served as the music composition middle college teacher for Fairleigh Dickinson University. Since 1987, Edward has been extremely involved as a music/percussion clinician and music adjudicator, and has toured extensively throughout the , Canada, Netherlands and Japan. He has been involved with Drum Corps International (DCI) since 1973 as a performer, Percussion Caption Administrator, Percussion Arranger/Show Designer for a handful of corps, and is currently judging Winter Guard International (WGI), Percussion judge, Bands of America (BOA), and DCI.

Daniel Cuevas, Euless, TX Mr. Daniel Cuevas is a music educator and visual design coordinator with over a decade of experience in the pageantry arts. He has also been a performing member of several world class drum corps, including the 2008 World Champion Phantom Regiment. In addition to his years of service as a band director, he has served as visual designer and consultant for numerous ensembles competing in the Bands of America (BOA) Regional and Grand National Championships. Mr. Cuevas received a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Houston and recently completed coursework for a Masters in Music Education degree from the University of Michigan. A native of Chicago, Daniel was raised in San Antonio, TX and currently resides in the Greater DFW area where he is an Assistant Band Director at Trinity High School.

Albert Lo, Brownsville, TX Mr. Albert Lo is currently in his fourth year as the Director of Bands at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and the resident Conductor/Artistic Director for the Brownsville Wind Symphony. Mr. Lo also serves as the Director of the UTRGV Jazz Orchestra, and heads the secondary instrumental music education department. Mr. Lo is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at The University of North Texas in Denton, TX, where he is under the tutelage of Professor Eugene Migliaro Corporon, Professor Dennis Fisher, and Dr. Nicholas Enrico Williams. A native of Chicago, IL, he received his Bachelor of Music Degree from Northern Illinois University and his Masters of Art Degree from Western Illinois University. As a former Director of Bands at Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio, TX, his bands continued their tradition of excellence, placing in the finals at consecutive Texas 5A State Marching Contests, Bands of America (BOA) Regionals, and the Bands of America Grand National Championships in Indianapolis, IN. The Charger Band was selected to participate in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA. and performed in the 50th anniversary celebration of Hawaii’s Statehood. Mr. Lo is an active clinician and guest conductor in Texas and throughout the United States, Europe, and most recently in Asia. Mr. Lo is a two-time Teacher of the Year recipient and was awarded Certificate of Recognition by the Texas Academy of Math and Sciences at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. He is a member of College Band Directors National Association, Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society, Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity, Texas Music Educator Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association.

Jeremy Spicer, Georgetown, TX Jeremy Spicer, a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Texas State University is the owner of SASI – The Leadership People, LLC., a student leadership consulting firm focusing on in the empowerment of young leaders. Mr. Spicer is instrumental in the development and presentation of this concept to thousands of students across the nation. Mr. Spicer is the former Director of Bands at Vandegrift High School. The marching band was named the 2013 UIL 4A State Marching Band Champion. Additionally, the marching band was a consistent Class Champion (Class A, AA, and AAA) and Finalist in Bands of America (BOA) Regional Competitions. Prior to his appointment at Vandegrift, Mr. Page 1 of 3 Spicer spent eight years as a member of the staff at Cedar Park High School. While at Cedar Park, he served as the Conductor of the Symphonic Winds and the Director of both the Marching and Jazz Ensembles. During his tenure, the marching band won numerous marching contests and was a consistent finalist at both the UIL State Marching Contest and BOA Regional and Super-Regional competitions. The marching band is the 2006 recipient of the Sudler Shield, an international award for marching excellence awarded by the John Philip Sousa Foundation. Mr. Spicer has also been very active in Drum Corps International (DCI). He has been on the brass staffs of the Carolina Crown (2000), Southwind (2001), Boston Crusaders (2002), and Santa Clara Vanguard (2003 and 2006). He has served in various capacities ranging from Brass Instructor to Assistant Brass Caption Head. Mr. Spicer is active in the United States as a clinician and adjudicator for BOA. His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

VISUAL PANEL JR Carlisle, Greenville, SC Mr. J.R. Carlisle is the Owner of Carlisle Educational Consultants. He taught for 15 years as a band/choir director and worked five years as a high school principal. Mr. Carlisle’s ensembles consistently received superior ratings at state concert and marching band festivals. Mr. Carlisle’s Federal Hocking Marching Band was a Sudler Shield Winner. Mr. Carlisle has directed several Winter Guard International (WGI) Regional Finalist and National Semifinalist color guards and drum lines, as well as a national finalist drumline. Founding member of the Tri State Circuit for the Pageantry Arts, Mr. Carlisle also served as the chief judge for the Carolina Indoor Performance Association. In addition to Bands of America (BOA), he has judged for WGI and Drum Corps International (DCI). Mr. Carlisle has also adjudicated Drum Corps Europe’s Championships and the drum corps competition in Kyoto, Japan. Mr. Carlisle has a B.A. in music education from Marshall University, an M.A. in education leadership from West University, and an MBA from Ashford University. Mr. Carlisle is currently pursuing his doctorate in education from Grand Canyon University.

John Howell, North Huntingdon, PA Mr. John Howell resides in North Huntingdon, PA just outside of Pittsburgh. He is currently employed as a Business Education Teacher in the Hempfield Area School District, where he serves as the Department Chairperson and teaches Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Web Page Design, and Video Game Programming. John holds a Bachelor of Administration in Business Management and an Accounting minor from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Indiana University of . He is a visual designer, and has taught and written shows for various nationally acclaimed marching bands, drum and bugle corps and indoor winter color guards. He continues to conduct clinics and consultations for bands, winter color guards, and judging associations across the United States. He has been a visual adjudicator over 28 years and judges for Bands of America (BOA), Drum Corps International (DCI), Winter Guard International (WGI), and various other judging associations. He has had the opportunity to judge internationally on numerous occasions. He also conducts both the Trinity Handbell and Hand Chime choirs at his church, in which he has performed for over 38 years.

Tim Hudnall, Knoxville, TN Mr. Tim Hudnall is a graduate of Western Kentucky University where he received a B.S. in Biology/Chemistry, and a M.S. degree in Public Health. He was a member of the “Big Red Marching Band” as a trumpet and color guard performer, “Savior-Faire” winter guard, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity. Mr. Hudnall has 34+ years of experience in visual design, color guard instruction/design and adjudication. Tim’s marching band adjudication includes contest in the North and Southeast areas of the country and is active in the KMEA adjudication process. He is a graduate of the Marching Roundtable Judges Academy Level One and Two and the WGI Judges Academy. Tim is a current member of the CIPA Judges Association, and judges for WGI and BOA. With a varied teaching past, Tim has been the director or consultant for many programs in Kentucky, Florida, and Tennessee. His indoor groups have been finalist at Winter Guard International (WGI) regionals, Semi-finalist at WGI World Championships, and medalists in the FFCG, SCGC, ETPAA and CIPA circuits. Currently Tim is the Visual Program Coordinator for the Hardin Valley Academy winter guard program, as well as Hardin Valley Academy’s “Spirit of the Valley”

Page 2 of 3 marching band, which has been a BOA regional finalist, MTSU’s Contest of Champions finalist, and WCU Tournament of Bands Finalist. He is married with two children (and a former band parent) and resides in Knoxville, TN where he works as a Physician Assistant.

CHIEF JUDGE John Turner, Mason, OH John Turner has been active in the Pageantry Arts since 1981 as a technician, caption head and visual designer, and has also served as a clinician, consultant, and judge for marching bands, winter guards, and drum and bugle corps. His instructional experience includes marching bands and winter guards from Northern Kentucky, , and Indiana, including the Pride of Cincinnati, the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps. Since 1994, he has served on the visual staff of the Homestead H.S. Spartan Alliance Marching Band from Fort Wayne, IN. His judging experience began in 1984 and includes Visual adjudication panels for local marching band, color guard, and indoor winds competitions throughout the United States. He has served on championship panels in California, the Carolinas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Ohio, and Oklahoma. John was the Secretary/Treasurer for the Ohio Judges Association during the late 1980s and early 1990s. He was Drum Corp International’s (DCI) National Judge Administrator from 1997 to 1999. Since 2003, John has been the DCI Open Class Judge Administrator, and he chairs the DCI Rules and Systems Task Force. He was the recipient of DCI’s 2016 George Bonfiglio Director’s Award for Leadership, Service, and Effort. Outside of the pageantry arts, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from The University of Kentucky, and is a Vice President in the Information Technology Division of Fifth Third Bancorp, headquartered in Cincinnati, OH.
