Where Can I Download Dashboard Confessional Albums Did Dashboard Confessional Inspire This Taylor Swift Lyric? Let's Review

where can i download dashboard confessional albums Did Dashboard Confessional inspire this Taylor Swift lyric? Let's review. On Friday, Taylor Swift surprise-dropped her eighth studio album, folklore, which sent fans into a delighted frenzy. Since the 16 new songs were released at midnight, Swifties have been parsing lyrics for romantic subtext, stoking the flames of those old Karlie Kloss rumors, and wondering if Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' third child is named Betty. folklore leaves much to digest, unpack, and savor, but I, for one, can't fully focus on doing that, because I can't stop thinking about a single lyric on Track 6, "mirrorball," that's straight out of a Dashboard Confessional song. Anyone who knows me knows I've been a hardcore, unwavering Dashboard fan since the early 2000s. This explains why I received the following text from my friend and fellow good music lover, Caitlin Healey, on Friday afternoon. Healy explained that when listening to "mirrorball" she couldn't help but think of a lyric from Dashboard's 2006 song, "Stolen." And as someone whose eighth grade MySpace song was "Stolen," I feel Caitlin came to the right place for this discussion. Image: screenshot / nicole gallucci. For those who need a refresher, in "mirrorball," Swift sings, "You'll find me on my tallest tiptoes / Spinning in my highest heels, love / Shining just for you." And in "Stolen," Dashboard's Chris Carrabba famously sings, "I watch you spin around in your highest heels." I was born to do many things in this life, and you'd better believe that opening my laptop on a Saturday to do a deep dive on Taylor Swift and Dashboard Confessional is one of them.

Being the first generation student I never imagined attaining my master's degree, but here I am, thanks to you. Thank you for bringing me lunch when I was in elementary school, rides to the airport for undergrad sorority conferences, having patience with me when I was stressed about graduation, and most importantly for loving me unconditionally. I want to thank my gladiators (you know who you are) who reminded me as to why I was perusing this degree when all I wanted to do was give up. Helping me take notes, ask a question in class for me when I didn't understand a concept, bringing me an endless amount of coffee to ease the writing process and truly believing that I am going to be successful in the near future. And finally, I would like to thank my professors that I have had at Southern Utah University.

Reading Escape and Writing It Intimacy and Away in the Hemingway Aesthetic David Andrew Burke Master’s Thesis, ILOS UNIVERSITETET I OSLO 15 May 2018 II © David Andrew Burke 2018 Reading Escape and Writing It: Intimacy and Away in the Hemingway Aesthetic David Andrew Burke http://www.duo.uio.no/ Trykk: Reprosentralen, Universitetet i Oslo III Abstract In this thesis I will lay out an argument for an implicit intimacy between Hemingway and his reader that runs counter to a great deal of the tired ideas we have about the writer. I will propose that the aesthetic dimension mediated by the Hemingway reading experience promises a mutual escape for both the reader and the writer, and that that intimacy and that promise of escape is at the heart of Hemingway’s continuing appeal to the reader. At first glance this may seem ridiculous, in part due to our common ideas about Hemingway and perhaps more directly because of the more than seventy years of critical explanations which have more or less reworked the same terrain by speaking about style and subject matter, the “iceberg technique,” violence, manliness and so forth. But an attentive observer may pause to ask if these old hats still fit. When I first encountered Ernest Hemingway, I was a child in the twenty-first century. And sure, some of those old hats still adorned the bust of my image of Hemingway, but what kept me reading was not the presence of the things I was told that I would find there. Instead, what kept me reading what that little secret, that little shared experience that no one ever told me about.

FROM PRINTED PAGE TO LIVE HIP HOP: AMERICAN POETRY AND POLITICS INTO THE 21ST CENTURY Michael Dowdy A dissertation submitted to the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of English in the Department of English. Chapel Hill 2006 Approved by Advisor: Linda Wagner-Martin Reader: Maria DeGuzmán Reader: Nick Halpern Reader: Trudier Harris Reader: John McGowan © 2005 Michael Dowdy ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT MICHAEL DOWDY: From Printed Page to Live Hip Hop: American Poetry and Politics into the 21st Century (Under the direction of Linda Wagner-Martin) This project identifies and explains the major rhetorical strategies American poets from Vietnam to the present use to create political poems. It argues that there are many different, though overlapping, approaches to making sociopolitically engaged poetry. Understanding political poetry as a collection of multiple rhetorical strategies moves away from identity- based and subject-based criticism. This project thus considers a number of representative poems from each strategy in order to illuminate each strategy’s intricacies. Further, the contention that hip hop has the most political potential of contemporary poetries suggests convergences with strategies for making printed poetry political. The framework for understanding both hip hop and printed poetry is derived from theories of agency that negotiate the individual’s ability to act according to her purposes in relation to the determining economic, political, and social forces that constrain action. The strategies considered thus emerge from various types of poetic agency: embodied agency, including both experiential and authoritative agency; equivocal agency, including comprehensive and particular varieties; migratory agency; and contestatory urban agency, which includes strategies indigenous to hip hop.

Dashboard Confessional was started in 2000, by Chris Carrabba in Boca Raton, Florida, as a side project from his band Further Seems Forever. Chris recorded his first album, The Swiss Army Romance, in 2000. The following year, he recorded Further Seems Forever's debut album The Moon Is Down. However, he left the band soon after the album's release, instead recording and releasing his sophomore album The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, as well as a follow-up EP titled So Impossible. By 2002, three other musicians had joined the band, including former Further Seems Forever band mate Jerry Castellanos and started the process of recording the band's next album. After the success of his second album, Carrabba was asked to perform on MTV Unplugged, and the subsequent release marked the first time many of the songs were recorded with a full band. Also in 2002, the music video for "Screaming Infidelities" won the coveted MTV2 award at the MTV Video Music Awards, beating out Norah Jones, The Strokes, The Hives, Nappy Roots and Musiq. This video starred Chris in both the performance and the storyline.
