HISTORIC INFORMATION Originally constructed as a stand alone small oak framed cottage in circa 18th century, the property was later extended to form two attached cottages and the current property still retains the original door to the rear cottage. The cottages were used to house workers for Purbrook Park House and the lord of the manor. Purbrook Park House was then re-built in 1837 (now known as Purbrook Park College) and the Lord of the Manor fell out with the diocese of Portsmouth and decided to build his own church in 1858 but didn’t have a suitable residence for his new rector. He therefore enlarged and extended the cottages to form one large Georgian Style House.

A lot of those original features remain and the east extension is in proportion to a typical Georgian property. Towards the end of the 18th Century a further two story extension was added to the rear of the property providing the existing high vaulted reception toom overlooking the rear garden, as well as extra large bedroom.
