Our Constitution, which is hailed as one of the most progressive in the world; is the ultimate protector of our Human Rights. We further commemorate Human Rights Day to reinforce our commitment to the Bill of Rights as enshrined in our Constitution. Our Bill of rights as enshrined in our constitution speaks of the right to equality which addresses pillars 1, 4 and 5 of the White Paper on the rights of persons with disabilities. As Government, we have made a commitment to deliver school sport through a sustainable school sport system. The policy aims to regulate the delivery of school sport for all learners, irrespective of disability, across all schools in an age- appropriate and/or grade appropriate way, based on the principle of equity and access. Our first MoU was signed back in 2011 by both Minister of Sport and Recreation SA and Minister of Education, giving rise to commitments by both departments to deliver a sustainable integrated plan to provide learners with the opportunity to take part in 1 2 physical education and organized sport through the creation of an accessible and implementable school sport support system.

    GAMES HISTORY INTRODUCTION In past centuries, the British Empire’s power and influence stretched all over the world. It started at the time of Elizabeth 1 when Sir Francis Drake and other explorers started to challenge the Portuguese and Spanish domination of the world. The modern Commonwealth was formed in 1949, with ‘British’ dropped from the name and with Logo of the Commonwealth many countries becoming independent, but Games Federation choosing to remain part of the group of nations called the Commonwealth. The first recorded Games between British Empire athletes were part of the celebrations for the Coronation of His Majesty King George V in 1911. The Games were called the 'Festival of Empire' and included Athletics, Boxing, Wrestling and Swimming events. At the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, the friendliness between the Empire athletes revived the idea of the Festival of Empire. Canadian, Bobby Robinson, called a meeting of British Empire sports representatives, who agreed to his proposal to hold the first Games in 1930 in Hamilton, Canada. From 1930 to 1950 the Games were called the British Empire Games, and until 1962 were called the British Empire and Commonwealth Games. From 1966 to 1974 they became the British Commonwealth Games and from 1978 onwards they have been known as the Commonwealth Games. Durithunga – Growing, nurturing, challenging and supporting urban Indigenous leadership in education i Language Weaves As highlighted in the following thesis, there are a number of key words and phrases that are typographically different from the rest of the thesis writing. Shifts in font and style are used to accent Indigenous world view and give clear signification to the higher order thought and conceptual processing of words and their deeper meaning within the context of this thesis (Martin, 2008). For ease of transition into this thesis, I have created the “Language Weaves” list of key words and phrases that flow through the following chapters. The list below has been woven in Migloo alphabetical order. The challenge, as I explore in detail in Chapter 5 of this thesis, is for next generations of Indigenous Australian writers to relay textual information in the languages of our people from our unique tumba tjinas. Dissecting my language usage in this way and creating a Language Weaves list has been very challenging, but is part of sharing the unique messages of this Indigenous Education field research to a broader, non- Indigenous and international audience.     Graphical Model for Baskeball Match Simulation Min-hwan Oh, Suraj Keshri, Garud Iyengar Columbia University New York, NY, USA, 10027 [email protected], [email protected] [email protected] Abstract Conventional approaches to simulate matches have ignored that in basketball the dynamics of ball movement is very sensitive to the lineups on the court and unique identities of players on both offense and defense sides. In this paper, we propose the simulation infrastructure that can bridge the gap between player identity and team level network. We model the progression of a basketball match using a probabilistic graphical model. We model every touch and event in a game as a sequence of transitions between discrete states. We treat the progression of a match as a graph, where each node is a network structure of players on the court, their actions, events, etc., and edges denote possible moves in the game flow. Our results show that either changes in the team lineup or changes in the opponent team lineup significantly affects the dynamics of a match progression. Evaluation on the match data for the 2013-14 NBA season suggests that the graphical model approach is appropriate for modeling a basketball match. 1 Introduction Predicting the outcomes of professional sports events is one of the most popular practices in the sports media, fan communities and, of course, sport betting related industries. Predictions range from human prediction to statistical analysis of historical data. In recent years, basketball, specifically the NBA, has received much atten- tion as a domain of analytics with the advent of player tracking data.

    Maccabi Australia 2016 Awards Press Release Maccabi Australia is excited to announce that nominations for the 2016 Maccabi Awards are now open. Maccabi Australia together with Maccabi States work to connect our Jewish community through sport and to this end seek to recognise and reward exceptional sporting and leadership achievements within Maccabi clubs and the wider community. There are awards for outstanding Maccabi sportsmen and women in the Junior, Open and Masters categories, as well as awards recognising those outstanding achievements in the wider community by Jewish athletes. Winners of the 2015 awards include Slalom Canoe champion and Olympic medalist Jessica Fox and Paralympic Table Tennis player Barak Mizrachi, as well as many other outstanding Maccabi and Jewish athletes. Simultaneously, Maccabi Australia would also like to invite eligible athletes to apply for the Rudi Roth Maccabi Australia Scholarship. This is the third year and sadly the first time since Rudi’s passing that the $5000 scholarship will be awarded to an emerging athlete. Rudi had a long-time involvement with Maccabi and was a passionate squash player, also coaching and founding a number of squash clubs in both Sydney and Melbourne. He established the Rudi Roth Maccabi Australia Scholarship Fund to offer exceptional young athletes assistance in reaching their goals. Last year’s winner was International Junior Rhythmic Gymnast Alexandra Kiroi, whose future goals include attending the 2017 Maccabiah Games and qualifying and competing in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.     View metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.uk brought to you by CORE provided by University of Southern Queensland ePrints [2005] ANZLH E-Journal Traditional law and Indigenous Resistance at Moreton Bay 1842-1855 LIBBY CONNORS* On the morning of 5 January 1855 when the British settlers of Moreton Bay publicly executed the Dalla-Djindubari man, Dundalli, they made sure that every member of the Brisbane town police was on duty alongside a detachment of native police under their British officer, Lieutenant Irving. Dundalli had been kept in chains and in solitary for the seven months of his confinement in Brisbane Gaol. Clearly the British, including the judge who condemned him, Sir Roger Therry, were in awe of him. The authorities insisted that these precautions were necessary because they feared escape or rescue by his people, a large number of whom had gathered in the scrub opposite the gaol to witness the hanging. Of the ten public executions in Brisbane between 1839 and 1859, including six of Indigenous men, none had excited this much interest from both the European and Indigenous communities.1 British satisfaction over Dundalli’s death is all the more puzzling when the evidence concerning his involvement in the murders for which he was condemned is examined. Dundalli was accused of the murders of Mary Shannon and her employer the pastoralist Andrew Gregor in October 1846, the sawyer William Waller in September 1847 and wounding with intent the lay missionary John Hausmann in 1845. In the first two cases the only witnesses were Mary Shannon’s five year old daughter and a “half- caste” boy living with Gregor whose age was uncertain but described as about ten or eleven years old.

    Engaging Futures: Futures Methods Transforming Governance Engaging Futures: Futures methods transforming governance Thesis submitted to the University of the Sunshine Coast For the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by Colin Russo BBus Communication and Organisational Studies MBus Studies Communication Management Under the supervision of Professor Sohail Inayutullah & Doctor Marcus Bussey Submitted: April 2016 Engaging Futures: Futures Methods Transforming Governance Abstract This thesis for PhD by publication has provided a critical analysis about the foresight methods and processes that help to shape and design city futures in South East Queensland. Causal Layered Analysis is applied to four city visioning initiatives to help clarify the phases of the initiatives and how they might inform futures knowledge. The four South East Queensland councils in this study were responding to the perceived challenges posed by rapid growth. The initiatives aimed first to deliver, explore and shape the multiple opportunities anticipated from this growth, and second to protect against potential threats that unrestrained growth implied. These city futures initiatives devised imaginative city visions and themes that when implemented guided the popular development of whole of city strategies such as cultural, transport and sustainable economic development. A précis of six chapters of the thesis follows. Introduction – Engaging Futures Transforming Governance Chapter 1 of this thesis for PhD by publication presents the argument that futures tools and methods transform governance by influencing the inner (individual and group) systems and outer (local to global) systems of cities, partially via a practice of engaging communities and their stakeholders about preferred futures in light of social, technological, environmental, economic and political issues, trends and future possibilities.

After a week of acclimatization and training, our athletes are ready to put their best bowl forward and take on the top bowlers in the world. Week one will feature the women playing singles and fours, while the men play pairs and triples. Kelly McKerihen (Toronto, ON) will represent Canada in the singles and after months of showing great success on the greens in the Southern Hemisphere, McKerihen is ready to compete. The women’s fours team represents a powerhouse of international experience with Leanne Chinery (Victoria, BC), Shirley Fitzpatrick-Wong (Winnipeg, MB) and Jackie Foster (Lower Sackville, NS). Rookie lead Pricilla Westlake (Delta, BC) may be new to international team play at this level, but the team is looking to capitalize on her recent successes at the 2016 World Indoor Cup and North American Challenge. “Even though New Zealand is now my home, I will always be a proud Canadian. I consider it a great honour to be able to wear the Maple Leaf and represent Canada to the best of my abilities” stated Chinery. On the men’s side, Ryan Bester (Hanover, ON) and Steven Santana (North Vancouver, BC) will be a heavy favourite in the pairs. These two are looking to continue the momentum from their gold medal win at the 2015 Asia Pacific Championships.
