SSA Country Day and Junior School Uniform Requirements

Students at Country Day and the Junior School wear uniforms to school every day unless otherwise specified by the administration. may be purchased from any store; however, we have included some information relating to particular vendors.

Uniform Options for all Students

Shirt Solid white, navy blue, or yellow - long-sleeved/short- sleeved shirt with a collar Sweatshirt/Fleece Must have SSA logo and can be purchased through SSA Spirit Store Sweaters Navy or white sweater Pants Navy or khaki - pants or slacks must be tailored and should not drag on the floor No , leggings, , velour, corduroy, or gaucho pants Shorts/Skorts Navy or khaki- no running, gym shorts or short shorts. Shorts are to be no shorter than mid-thigh in length. Shorts may be worn during the fall and spring. PE Uniform Requirements for 4th & 5th Grades Only T-shirts All t-shirts must be short sleeved and crewneck. Any SSA or solid white, grey, navy short sleeved and crewneck t-shirt Sweatshirts Any SSA or solid white grey, navy hooded or crewneck sweatshirts Shorts Solid navy or gray athletic shorts (example: basketball or running shorts). NO SPANDEX. Sweatpants Any SSA or solid navy, grey sweatpants are acceptable NO LEGGINGS: if girls wear tights or leggings under their uniform skirt they must either remove them and wear athletic shorts or put athletic shorts over the leggings. Clothing for Recess and Outdoor Learning

Students do go outside year-round and in all types of weather. For this reason, it is very important that students have the appropriate dress for recess and outdoor learning time. Please ensure students have what is needed to participate fully in outdoor activities during the following seasons: • Fall/Spring: sunscreen, rain jacket and rain boots as needed. • Winter: Snow pants, waterproof gloves/mittens, hats, coat, boots, scarves

Please make certain all of your child’s clothes are marked with his/her name, including gloves, boots, and shoes. Dress-Down Days

Dress-down days are organized by the school or individual classroom teachers and often have a theme or charity donation associated with the event. Students and families will be informed of the dress down theme and what clothing will be permitted prior to the dress down date. No matter the theme of the dress down day, students should always follow these guidelines: no revealing clothing (eg: short shorts, crop shirts, overly tight clothing) no inappropriate sayings on T-shirts. Formal dress clothes are required for special occasions and Closing Exercises. Formal dress clothes include a collared/button down shirt, tie, slacks or a , dress, skirt, jumper, or dressy pants and blouse with dress shoes. In addition, all students should bring tennis shoes to change into for gym and/or recess. Additional Guidelines: ● Hats may not be worn in doors. ● Only stud earrings are permitted. ● In inclement weather, students may wear boots and change into tennis shoes at school. ● Please make certain all of your child's clothes are marked with his/her name.
