With TFL Extended we aim at enlarging Angelica Cantisani our community, by granting access to professionals coming from all over the Head of TFL Extended world. We want to offer our pedagogic expertise also to the countries that cannot take part in our regular programmes and that do not benefit from any professional training possibilities in their areas. TFL Extended is now a dynamic reality able to offer immediate and tailor-made consultations in different areas: script development for fiction feature films, documentaries and TV series; professional training for story editors and audience designers and an international hub for creative producers who want to boost their projects and improve their networking skills. In the past two years we have had the pleasure to work with more than 200 professionals coming from all over the world, helping them to deliver new singular and intimate stories, born through productive collaborations. Stories that can engage audiences personally. These professionals worked together in a process of creation that perfectly honoured the main goal of storytelling: generating a unique voice, loud enough to catch the attention of the rest of the world, inspiring others. This success has been achieved mainly thanks to the devoted and caring work by the team of tutors and experts that have joined this adventure and put their expertise at the service of TFL Extended. A special thanks to Eilon Ratzovsky (Head of Studies), Axelina Gunnarsson, Laura Amelio and Costanza Fiore: there would be no TFL Extended without any of you. The results achieved until now have made the programme stronger and we are ready to face the next Extended challenges.

  • Ford Foundation Annual Report 2005
Ford Foundation Annual Report 2005 our mission Strengthen democratic values, reduce poverty and injustice, promote international cooperation and advance human achievement. mission statement The Ford Foundation is a resource for innovative people and institutions worldwide. Our goals are to: strengthen democratic values, reduce poverty and injustice, promote international cooperation and advance human achievement. This has been our purpose for more than half a century. A fundamental challenge facing every society is to create political, economic and social systems that promote peace, human welfare and the sustainability of the environment on which life depends. We believe that the best way to meet this challenge is to encourage initiatives by those living and working closest to where problems are locat- ed; to promote collaboration among the nonprofit, government and business sectors; and to ensure participation by men and women from diverse communities and at all levels of society. In our experience, such activities help build common understand- ing, enhance excellence, enable people to improve their lives and reinforce their commitment to society. The Ford Foundation is one source of support for these activities. We work mainly by making grants or loans that build knowledge and strengthen organizations and networks. Since our financial resources are modest in comparison to societal needs, we focus on a limited number of problem areas and program strategies within our broad goals. Founded in 1936, the foundation operated as a local philanthropy in the state of Michigan until 1950, when it expanded to become a national and international foundation. Since its inception it has been an independent, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization.

  • The Thrill of Cinema Lives at the Mole Antonelliana
THE THRILL OF CINEMA LIVES AT THE MOLE ANTONELLIANA Unique in Italy and among the most important worldwide, the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF CINEMA is hosted within the Mole Antonelliana in Turin, the symbol of the city. Inaugurated in July 2000, it has become one of the most visited museums in Italy, garnering much acclaim at an international level; a remarkable goal for a very particular museum, which proposes to charm its visitors by drawing them into the enchanting world of the Seventh Art. What really makes the National Museum of Cinema unique is the invaluable asset of its collections and the peculiarity of its layout, developed spiral-wise upwards and structured over several display levels, illustrating the history of cinema by alternating spectacular and evocative posters, objects, film fragments and set-staging, covering an overall surface of about 3,200 square metres. In planning the museum layout, François Confino did not only take into account the characteristics of the building housing it, but, as he followed Antonelli’s crescendo, he overlaid different levels of perception, combining the need for rigorous scientific foundations with the need for a spectacular presentation which aimed to reproduce and play with those fascination mechanisms at the basis of cinematographic depiction. The Museum preserves a considerable fund of rare and precious material, holding over 1,800,000 items, in many cases one-off pieces worldwide: its collections number 950,000 photographs, 530,000 posters and advertising material, 8,900 gadgets and film memorabilia, 8,950 devices and 10,850 artistic artefacts, 37,000 silent and sound films, 42,000 volumes, 138,000 brochures and magazines, 250,000 press clippings, 1,350 musical scores, 15,000 archive files, 37,700 titles in its video library and 4,800 film audio recordings.

Hester ii MALE BONDING: A QUEER ANALYSIS OF THE JAMES BOND CANON by Grant C. Hester This dissertation was prepared under the direction of the candidate's dissertation advisor, Dr. Jane Caputi, Center for Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Communication, and Multimedia and has been approved by the members of his supervisory committee. It was submitted to the faculty of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and was accepted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Khaled Sobhan, Ph.D. Interim Dean, Graduate College iii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Jane Caputi for guiding me through this process. She was truly there from this paper’s incubation as it was in her Sex, Violence, and Hollywood class where the idea that James Bond could be repressing his homosexuality first revealed itself to me. She encouraged the exploration and was an unbelievable sounding board every step to fruition. Stephen Charbonneau has also been an invaluable resource. Frankly, he changed the way I look at film. His door has always been open and he has given honest feedback and good advice. Oliver Buckton possesses a knowledge of James Bond that is unparalleled. I marvel at how he retains such information.

We’ve been listening to our members and audience who lament that they have too much in the calendar during Mardi Gras, therefore we are back by popular demand with a stand alone four day event to brighten up our queer screens in September during the Sydney Fringe Festival . We also know many of our members have been craving a little more of an inner west focus, so the Queer Screen Film Fest will see us setting up camp with some of our favourite partners on Kings Street: the Dendy Newtown Cinemas and the Newtown Hotel. The Queer Screen Film Festival will also be another important part of our fundraising calendar, helping us raise the much needed funds for an amazing program for our 21 st Mardi Gras Film Festival in Feb 2014. Stay tuned for the full Queer Screen Film Fest program release SOON . Opening Night Film: Alain Guiraudie's "Stranger by the Lake" We could not be more excited about announcing our new film festival's Opening Night movie! Thanks to Madman Entertainment, we managed to secure Stranger by the Lake to screen at Dendy Newtown, Thursday 19 th September at 7pm. Stranger by the Lake comes directly from wins at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, including the coveted Queer Palm Award and Best Director in the Un Certain Regard.
