Friday 24 April 2020 MORNING Time of Issue: 0730 hours IST ALL INDIA WEATHER SUMMARY AND FORECAST BULLETIN Significant Weather Features ♦ Due to continued moisture incursion, strong wind convergence and conducive upper level features, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity is very likely to continue over parts of East and Northeast India during next 5-6 days. Isolated heavy rainfall, thundersquall (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph over Eastern India and more than 60 kmph over Northeast India) & hailstorms are also very likely over West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam & Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during this period. ♦ Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thundershower activity along with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Kerala & Mahe during next 5 days. Rainfall activity likely to increase over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal from 25th April onwards. Thunderstorms, hailstorms, lightning, gusty winds & heavy rainfall are also likely over these regions during this period. ♦ Under the influence of a Western Disturbance, parts of Northwest India likely to experience isolated to scattered rain/thundershower activity during next 24 hours. ♦ A fresh Western Disturbance likely to cause isolated to scattered rain/thundershower activity over Northwest India from 26th April onwards. Isolated hailstorm activity is also likely over the region during 26th-27th April, 2020. Main Weather Observations ♦ Rain/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 hrs IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; at a few places over Bihar and at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, East Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Kerala & Mahe and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal. ♦ Rainfall recorded (from to 0830 hrs IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday ) (1 cm or more):- Midnapore-7; Jamshedpur-3;Purnea, Ranchi, Kolkata ( Dum-Dum & Alipore), Kohima, Kailashahar, Agartala and Valparai-1 each. ♦ Thunderstorm accompanied observed reported (from 1130 hrs IST to 1730 hrs IST of yesterday): at isolated places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, East Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, East Rajasthan and Kerala & Mahe. ♦ Maximum Temperature Departures as on 23-04-2020: Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Konkan & Goa; at isolated places Kerala & Mahe and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Rayalaseema and Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Gujarat Region, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Telangana and Lakshadweep and at isolated places over East Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra. They were markedly below normal (-5.1°C or less) at a few places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, East Uttar Pradesh and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, West Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya ; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Bihar and Odisha and at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal; below normal (-1.6°C to - 3.0°C) at many places over Uttarakhand and at isolated places over Nagaland , Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and near normal over rest parts of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 43.4°C reported at Akola (Vidarbha). ♦ Minimum Temperature Departures as on 23-04-2020: Minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Gujarat; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada; at a few places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala & Mahe. They were appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at a few places over Gangetic West Bengal; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Assam & Meghalaya; at isolated places over Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and near normal over rest parts of the country.The lowest minimum temperature of 18.3°C was reported at Amritsar (Punjab). * Red color warning does not mean "Red Alert" Red color warning means "Take Action". Forecast and Warning for any day is valid from 0830 hours IST of day till 0830 hours IST of next day For more details kindly visit www.imd.gov.in or contact : +91 11 24631913, 24643965, 24629798 (Service to the Nation since 1875) Meteorological Analysis (Based on 0530 hours IST) ♦ The Western Disturbance as a trough in mid tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level now runs roughly along longitude 81°E to the north of latitude 32°N. ♦ The trough in upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 9.5 km above mean sea level roughly along longitude 93°E to the north of latitude 28°N persists. ♦ The cyclonic circulation west Vidarbha & neighbourhood extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level persists. ♦ The trough/wind discontinuity at 0.9 km above mean sea level from the above cyclonic circulation to Comorin area across Marathawada, Interior Karnataka and interior Tamilnadu persists. ♦ The cyclonic circulation over south Assam & neighbourhood extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level becomes less marked. Weather Forecast for next 5 days * upto 0830 hours IST of 29th April, 2020 ♦ Meteorological sub-division wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast is given in Table-1. ♦ No significant change in maximum temperatures over Gujarat state during next 24 hours and fall by 2-4°C during subsequent 3-4 days. No significant change in maximum temperatures over rest of the country during next 3 days.
