The Northwell Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery The Northwell Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery A guide for healthcare professionals Dear Colleagues, As one of the New York metropolitan area’s largest providers of Neurological and Neurosurgical care, we have a vast repertoire of diagnostic, clinical and research expertise to treat patients for the entire spectrum of neurological conditions. Our Institute has grown to become one of the largest in the country and to provide care throughout the New York metropolitan area. Both North Shore University Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital are Level 4 Epilepsy Centers, the highest rating designated by the National Association of Epilepsy (NAEC). Staten Island University Hospital and Southside Hospital are designated as Level 3 Epilepsy Centers by the NAEC. Northwell Health is also home to the first American College of Surgeons-verified level 1 trauma center in the downstate region. Additionally, in 2015 North Shore University Hospital was the first hospital on Long Island and one of four in New York State to receive advanced certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC), earning the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark in recognition of its ability to receive and treat the most complex stroke cases. In conjunction with the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, we maximize research opportunities and patient access to clinical trials, and train future clinicians and scientists, allowing our patients to receive the most advanced treatments. We hope that you find this directory helpful and we look forward to partnering with you in the care of our patients. Sincerely, Souhel Najjar, MD Raj K.
