FORMAT OF PLAY 18-Hole Sectional Qualifying Round. Qualifiers play 54-Hole Championship field cut after 36 holes. Eligibility 1) Past MGA Open Champions. 2) PGA Members in good standing in the Metropolitan and New Jersey PGA Sections. (A-3 members must have their principle place of residence in the MGA territory). 3) Professionals, employed at a golf facility in the MGA territory, who are enrolled in the PGM. 4) Head and Assistant Professionals at MGA Member Clubs. See below for definition of Assistant Golf Professionals (*). 5) Professionals who are bona fide members, with full golfing privileges, at MGA Member Clubs, have a place of residence in the MGA territory, and a current USGA Handicap Index not to exceed 4.0 under the Men’s USGA Handicap System at that member club. See below (**). A golfer may not join an MGA Member Club for the sole purpose of gaining entry to the Met Open (#). 6) Amateur members and applicants for Amateur reinstatement at MGA Member Clubs with a current USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 4.0 under the Men’s USGA Handicap System. 7) Amateur golfers, 21 and under, in immediate family of the Head Golf Professional, General Manager, and Head Superin- tendent at MGA Member Clubs with a current USGA Handicap Index not to exceed 4.0 under the Men’s USGA Handicap System. EXEMPTION CATEGORIES (If otherwise eligible): 1. Met Open Champions from the last 10 years. 2. Past Met Open Champions prior to 2010. 3. 25 lowest scores and ties in the 2011 Met Open. 4. 2012 Open Champions of the LIGA, NJSGA, CSGA and WGA. 5. 2012 LIGA and Westchester PGA Champions. 6. 2011 New Jersey and Met PGA Section Champions and NJPGA Champions. 7. 2012 Met Amateur and Ike Champion. 8. USGA Champions and members of the Team from the past 10 years. 9. Professional representative and current club champion at championship host club - Plainfield CC. 10. 2012 NJSGA, NYSGA and CSGA Amateur Champions. 11. Past U.S. Open and PGA Champions. 12. Top 5 on the 2011 Metropolitan and New Jersey PGA Section Player of the Year List. 13. 2011 MGA Player of the Year and MGA Senior Open Champion. 14. Qualifiers for the 2012 U.S. Open and PGA Championship. 15. 2012 NYS Open, NYS PGA, NJPGA Charity Clambake and NJPGA Charity Classic Champions. 16. 2011 Treiber Memorial Champion. DEFINITIONS * The term “Assistant Golf Professional” shall mean a person regularly employed (minimum of 40 hours per week) by a golf professional (and paid by the golf professional or the club) in the category of teacher or shop assistant (which means spending at least 20 hours a week in duties of club repair, merchandising, handicapping records, inventory control, bookkeeping, and tournament operations.) ** Professional golfers who are bona fide members with full golfing privileges at an MGA Member Club who meet the qualifications stated on this form and who wish to play in the 2012 Met Open Championship must submit an entry form along with a letter from the Golf Chair (or other authority) of their club verifying the nature of their membership and their place of residence. A golfer may not join an MGA Member Club for the sole purpose of gaining entry to the Met Open. # Professional golfers may not join an e-Club for the sole purpose of gaining eligibility into the Met Open Championship. Exception: Amateur golfers who have turned professional that have participated in MGA events based on membership in an MGA e-Club, prior to turning professional, and who have maintained membership in that e-Club would be eligible to enter the Met Open Championship. RULES AND REGULATIONS The Rules of the United States Golf Association shall govern all play, except as they may be modified by the MGA Committee and by the Local Rules in force at the host course. The Committee reserves the right to amend this program before or during the Championship if considered advisable. Contestants entering the Championship shall be considered to have subjected themselves to the authority of the Committee, whose decision on all points shall be final. The Committee reserves the right at its discretion to disqualify or default any player at any stage of the Championship. Unless announced on the notice to players, no will be allowed on the course unless they are regularly employed by the club and no contestant may bring his own . The use of golf carts, cellular phones or other electronic communication devices and steel spiked golf shoes may be prohibited. Entries are subject to approval or rejection at any time by the MGA Committee at its discretion. TRANSPORTATION Players and caddies shall walk at all times during a stipulated round. The optional condition prescribed in Appendix 1 of the Rules of Golf shall be in effect. Anyone (player or caddie) seeking a due to a disability as defined under The American With Disabilities Act (ADA) should contact the MGA at (914) 347-4653 to obtain information on procedures for submitting such requests. All such requests and required information must be submitted in writing to the MGA within three days of submission of the relevant MGA championship entry application. Please note that requests due to temporary injuries or impairments that do not qualify as a “disability” under the ADA will not be granted. REFUND POLICY Entry fee, less a $25.00 service charge, will be refunded regardless of reason if the MGA is notified by phone at (914) 347-4653 or email ([email protected]) prior to the close of entries. Refunds, less service charge, for illness or injury after the close of entries require written confirmation. No refund for any reason after the tournament date. Late or incomplete entries are not acceptable. Time limit for entries means time of receipt at the MGA office, not time of postmark.
