  • Vicinity and GIC Undertake Swap of Premium Sydney Retail Assets
ASX Announcement 6 November 2017 Vicinity and GIC undertake swap of premium Sydney retail assets Vicinity Centres (Vicinity, ASX:VCX) announces that it has entered into contracts to exchange a 49% interest in Chatswood Chase Sydney for 50% interests in GIC’s Queen Victoria Building, The Galeries and The Strand Arcade (together, the Sydney CBD Centres). The interests in the Sydney CBD Centres have been acquired for $556.0 million1 on a 5.1% blended capitalisation rate.2 The interest in Chatswood Chase Sydney has been sold for $562.3 million3 on a 4.75% capitalisation rate. Vicinity will continue to manage Chatswood Chase Sydney and will assume management of the Sydney CBD Centres. The transaction is expected to be accretive to funds from operations by approximately $5 million, or 0.13 cents per security, on a full-year basis. Mr Angus McNaughton, CEO and Managing Director, said: “This transaction is strategically significant for Vicinity. We gain exposure to, and the management rights of, three high quality and strongly performing CBD centres in Sydney, Australia’s most populous and most visited CBD. This transaction also expands our strong relationship with GIC. “Combined foot traffic through the Sydney CBD Centres is approximately 60 million people per annum, with visitation from three main, and growing, consumer segments: office workers, tourists and residents, who spent $590 million across the three centres this year.4 “The Sydney CBD Centres perform at very high levels of retail sales productivity, with specialty sales averaging $23,890 per square metre and specialty MAT growth of 2.4%, while overall MAT growth was 4.0%.4,5 This is despite significant disruption from the light rail works along George Street to which all three centres have frontage.

t'tk Office of NSW-- Environment GOVERNMENT & Heritage ED18/314 018/11242 The Hon Paul Green MLC Committee Chair Portfolio Committee No 6 - Planning and Environment Parliament House Macquarie Street SYDNEY NSW 2000 By email: [email protected] Dear Mr Green Thank you for your letter about the inquiry into the music and arts economy in NSW. I appreciate the opportunity to provide a submission on behalf of the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH). I attach a list of music and arts venues listed on the State Heritage Register (SHR) under the Heritage Act 1977. It includes cafes, restaurants, bars, gallery spaces and live music venues. This list is indicative only and is based on current use information recorded in the OEH's statutory heritage database, which does not always accurately reflect the various iterations and mixed uses of SHR items. The list shows venues listed on the SHR only. Venues operating out of heritage-listed premises protected under local environmental plans at the local government level are not included. OEH does not collect or hold data that would allow it to report on the number of music and arts venues that have been 'lost' over the past 20 years. The Basement operates from the modern commercial building at 7 Macquarie Place Sydney. This property is not listed on the SHR and therefore is not protected under the Heritage Act. I note the committee's interest in heritage listing or an equivalent statutory mechanism to protect iconic music venues in NSW, and specifically to prevent their closure.

1 ‘If Walls Could Talk': Narrating Adaptive Reuse in the Digital Age Mark Butler Submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Arts in Humanities and Social Sciences (Research) University of Technology Sydney 2016 2 Statement of Originality/Authorship I certify that the work in this thesis has not been previously been submitted for a degree, nor has it been submitted as part of the requirements for a degree except as fully acknowledged within the text. I also certify that the thesis has been written by me. Any help that I have received in my research work and the preparation of the thesis itself has been fully acknowledged. In addition, I also certify that all information and sources used are identified in the thesis. Signature of Candidate 3 ABSTRACT Interest in architectural tourism that concentrates on adaptively reused heritage buildings is intensifying. But the corresponding documentation, presentation or interpretation of these sites has not kept stride with the digital revolution. This has been due to factors including deregulation of the industry, a deficit of clear sanctioned guidelines as to the documentation of heritage sites and the dominance of private property interests. Public narratives about these sites have been subsequently affected. This thesis investigates this situation, looking at the implications for public memories embedded in reused heritage and suggests ways to enhance access to related narratives. It does so via a specific treatment of built heritage – adaptive reuse and its connection to digital resources. I argue that employing social media is the most feasible, affordable and widely available of all formats that permits an online presence in virtually examining a repurposed structure.
