Gina Rinehart $14.02billion from Resources Chairman – Hancock Prospecting Residence: Perth Wealth last year: $20.01b Rank last year: 1 A plunging iron ore price has made a big dent in Gina Rinehart’s wealth. But so vast are her mining assets that Rinehart, chairman of Hancock Prospecting, maintains her position as Australia’s richest person in 2015. Work is continuing on her $10billion Roy Hill project in Western Australia, although it has been hit by doubts over its short-term viability given falling commodity prices and safety issues. Rinehart is pressing ahead and expects the first shipment late in 2015. Most of her wealth comes from huge royalty cheques from Rio Tinto, which mines vast swaths of tenements pegged by Rinehart’s late father, Lang Hancock, in the 1950s and 1960s. Rinehart's wealth has been subject to a long running family dispute with a court ruling in May that eldest daughter Bianca should become head of the $5b family trust. 2. Visy is Australia’s largest private company by revenue and the biggest Australian-owned employer in the US. Pratt inherited the Visy leadership from his late father Richard in 2009, though the firm’s ownership is shared with sisters Heloise Waislitz and Fiona Geminder. -

1 Airport OLS Penetrations by Existing and Planned Structures in the Sydney and Brisbane CBD It is crucial that the safety implications arising from the recent incidents involving a Qantas airbus A380 following take-off at Singapore airport on the 4th of November, 2010 and a B747 departing the same airport two days later are fully appreciated by governments at all levels. Although the problems were serious enough, they could have been a lot worse and could well have occurred at Brisbane or Sydney airports. To further illustrate what happened to the A380, the following interim list of 18 items damaged by the exploding engine was released to the media on the 11/11/2010. 1.Massive fuel leak in the left mid fuel tank (there are 11 tanks, including in the horizontal stabiliser on the tail); 2.Massive fuel leak in the left inner fuel tank; 3. A hole on the flap fairing big enough to climb through; 4 The aft gallery in the fuel system failed, preventing many fuel transfer functions; 5 Problem jettisoning fuel; 6 Massive hole in the upper wingsurface; 7 Partial failure of leading edge slats; 8 Partial failure of speed brakes/groundspoilers; 9 Shrapnel damage to the flaps; 10 Total loss of all hydraulic fluid in one of the jet'stwo systems; 11 Manual extension of landing gear; 12 Loss of one generator and associatedsystems; 13 Loss of brake anti-skid system; 14 No.1 engine could not be shut down in theusual way after landing because of major damage to systems; 15 No.1 engine could not beshut down using the fire switch, which meant fire extinguishers would not work on thatengine; 16 ECAM (electronic centralised aircraft monitor) warnings about the major fuelimbalance (because of fuel leaks on left side) could not be fixed with cross-feeding; 17 Fuelwas trapped in the trim tank (in the tail) creating a balance problem for landing; 18 Left wingforward spar penetrated by debris With so much damage to the aircraft, it’s clear that all on board were extremely lucky. -

APPENDIX 2 – Stakeholder Consultation The SOHT has undertaken extensive consultation on the Building Renewal Program, including the proposed Concert Hall, Under the Steps, Creative Learning Centre and Southern Foyers project as summarised in Table 1 below: Stakeholder Consultation Summary Resident Companies: • The Sydney Opera House’s Renewal program governance structure was established in late 2015, which includes: • Monthly senior management meetings with the resident companies, including • Opera Australia • The Australian Ballet • Sydney Symphony Orchestra • Sydney Philharmonic Choirs • Australian Chamber Orchestra • Bangarra Dance Theatre • Bell Shakespeare • Sydney Theatre Company • Quarterly meetings with the CEO of the Opera House and resident company CEOs • The Creative Learning Centre, Under the Steps and Southern Foyers projects have been raised and discussed at the Senior Management Forums throughout 2016. Eminent Architects • The EAP provides advice to the SOHT and management on issues of Panel architecture or design, and in relation to the management and conservation of the building. Four to five formal meetings are held each year. The EAP has been briefed regularly on the Creative Learning Centre, Under the Steps and Southern Foyers, and was involved in the design process. • Current members of the EAP include: • Mr Peter Poulet, Chair (NSW Government Architect) • Mr Jan Utzon • Mr Peter Mould • Mr Ken Maher • Ms Abbie Galvin Conservation Council • The Conservation Council provides advice to the SOHT and management team on conservation and heritage matters. Four to five formal Conservation Council meetings are held each year. It is chaired by an Opera House Trustee, and comprises representatives from key external organisations, heritage and architectural specialists, and a number of management representatives. -

I appreciate the opportunity to provide a submission on behalf of the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH). I attach a list of music and arts venues listed on the State Heritage Register (SHR) under the Heritage Act 1977. It includes cafes, restaurants, bars, gallery spaces and live music venues. This list is indicative only and is based on current use information recorded in the OEH's statutory heritage database, which does not always accurately reflect the various iterations and mixed uses of SHR items. The list shows venues listed on the SHR only. Venues operating out of heritage-listed premises protected under local environmental plans at the local government level are not included. OEH does not collect or hold data that would allow it to report on the number of music and arts venues that have been 'lost' over the past 20 years. The Basement operates from the modern commercial building at 7 Macquarie Place Sydney. This property is not listed on the SHR and therefore is not protected under the Heritage Act. I note the committee's interest in heritage listing or an equivalent statutory mechanism to protect iconic music venues in NSW, and specifically to prevent their closure.
