Wright in Los Angeles Trip Itinerary Please note a complete detailed itinerary will be e-mailed to each trip participant Friday, October 21 MORNING: Arrive at LAX airport and board motor-coach to downtown Los Angeles. AFTERNOON: Enjoy delicious group lunch at a local favorite and then explore downtown LA on the LA Conservancy walking tour. Covering a wide range of architectural styles, and anecdotes about the people behind the buildings, this tour is a great way to become acquainted (or re-acquainted) with the unique character of historic downtown. EVENING: Check into the Hilton Garden Inn hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure. Note: The LA Philharmonic will be performing Friday night at the beautiful Frank Gehry designed concert hall! Be sure to check out Rick’s Picks – your tour escort’s guide to LA – which will include expert recommendations for local restaurants and entertainment. This will be sent to all participants. Saturday, October 22 MORNING: External tour of the Eames House (Charles Eames/Eero Saarinen), a landmark of mid-20th century modern architecture located in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of LA. AFTERNOON: Arrive at the Getty Center for exploration, an architectural tour and lunch! EVENING: Group dinner at a local favorite Sunday, October 23 MORNING: Tours TBD AFTERNOON: Enjoy a delicious group lunch at the Women’s City Club in Pasadena. The Club is located within the historic Blinn House. Built in 1906, The Blinn House is an exemplary portrayal of noted architect George Washington Maher's mastery of the highly regarded prairie style design. You will truly appreciate the Tiffany inspired wisteria-vine motif leaded-glass windows and glass mosaic fireplace designed by Chicago glass artist, Orlando Gianinni. After lunch we will tour the Arroyo Terrace neighborhood (walking tour) and the Gamble House. The Gamble House is a fine example of American Arts and Crafts architecture, designed by Charles and Henry Greene in 1908. EVENING: Sunday night is on your own to explore more of the LA area Monday, October 24 MORNING: Tour of the Samuel Freeman House, a Frank Lloyd Wright house in the Hollywood Hills built in 1923. Next we will tour the Schindler House, also known as the Schindler Chace House, or Kings Road House in West Hollywood, designed by architect Rudolf M. Schindler. AFTERNOON: Group boxed lunch. After lunch we will depart for the Ennis House, a residential dwelling in the Los Feliz neighborhood of LA. The home was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Charles and Mabel Ennis in 1923 and was built in 1924. From there we will travel to the beautiful Hollyhock House, originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright as a residence for oil heiress Aline Barnsdall, built in 1919–1921. EVENING: Cap off a full day of touring at a group dinner and toast to which house you think is the best! Tuesday, October 25 MORNING: Check out of hotel and load motorcoach to LAX airport. AFTERNOON: Grab a quick bite to eat at the airport before we depart for Buffalo. EVENING: Return to the Buffalo Niagara Airport at approximately 10:30 PM. Waive goodbye and smile at all of the new friends and memories you’ve made on the trip! .
