Top Ten Fashion Designers In a society where we are bombarded with fashion, how on earth do we decide who the top ten designers are? Well, after quite a lot of pondering, I came up with some names that I thought were a well-rounded group of creative minds. These are the best from all over the board. So here goes. 1. VALENTINO GARAVANI. From Italy, this man knows how to make a woman look like a goddess. Having dressed many of the world's most famous leading ladies (such as Julia Roberts and Elizabeth Taylor), he has proven his talent and risen to the top as The King of Elegance. 2. TOM FORD Born in Texas this man is not only the Creative Director for Gucci, he's also the Creative Director for Yves Saint Laurent. Ford won the Best International Designer Award in 2000. 3. DONATELLA VERSACE is one of fashions most loved divas. Born in Calabria Italy, she took over her late brother Gianni Versace's design house. By following in his footsteps Donatella has become known for her sexy yet elegant designs. 4. ALEXANDER MCQUEEN is one of the worlds most innovative and outstanding designers. Known for his theatrical influence, his creations are not only beautiful but also colourful and raw. 5. BETSEY JOHNSON. Her designs are brilliant, bold and fun. They are funky and edgy, with a lifetime of flare. Straight from the American fashion capital [New York] Betsey is known for "her celebration of the exuberant". 6. RALPH LAUREN. He could possibly be the king of ready-to wear. -

New On Video & DVD Yes Man Jim Carrey returns to hilarious form with this romantic comedy in the same vein as the Carrey classic Liar Liar. After a few stints in more serious features like Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and The Number 23, Carrey seems right at home playing Carl, a divorcé who starts out the film depressed and withdrawn, scared of taking a risk. Pressured by his best friend, Peter (Bradley Cooper), to get his act together or be stuck with a lonely life, Carl attends a New Age self-help seminar intended to change "no men" like Carl into "yes men" willing to meet life's challenges with gusto. Carl is reluctant at first, but finds the seminar to be ultimately life-changing when he's coerced into giving the "say yes" attitude a try. As the first opportunity to say yes presents itself, Carl hesitantly utters the three-letter word, setting the stage for a domino effect of good rewards, and giving Carrey a platform to show off his comic chops. But over time Carl realizes that saying yes to everything indiscriminately can reap results as complicated and messy as his life had become when saying "no" was his norm. The always-quirky Zooey Deschanel adds her signature charm as Carl's love interest, Allison. An unlikely match at first glance, the pair actually develop great chemistry as the story progresses, the actors play- ing off each other's different styles of humor. Fall & Winter 2019 Issue II Spring 2020 Meanwhile back at home Tom Ford once confessed that during the flming of A Single Man , he found Julianne Moore’s Birken- stocks so distracting from his elegantly crafted mise en scene, that even though they could not be seen on camera, he made her take them off. Only such a diligent perfectionist (or aesthetic freak) could be trusted to respectfully restore an architectural gem such as Paul Rudolph’s Halston House. Luckily, he just purchased it. Even more luckily, the Paul Rudolph Heritage Foundation is there to aid him in the resto- ration. Andy Warhol’s diaries are flled with accounts of hanging out at Halston’s place before a night at Studio 54. I’m sure Halston was a fabulous host in his own right, but the architecture sure didn’t hurt. There is an iconic photo of Paul Rudolph, sitting on the foor at his own Beekman Place residence, hold- ing court for architecture students and architectural luminaries alike. He was known for his salon style gatherings, elevated in part by his long time friend and associate Hans Wagner’s catering (he picked up his cooking skills while at business school in Switzerland). The two started the lighting company Modulightor to- gether, which is housed, showroom, production and all, along with the Heritage Foundation, in a Rudolph designed townhouse on East 58th Street. The town- house also includes two duplexes, one of which is Wagner’s residence to this day, which he opens to the public for salon style evenings in the spirit of those held by Rudolph once upon a time. -

Inc. close stores, and a string of other chains go bankrupt. Many mall operators are selling their underperform- ing properties. For example, Macerich sold 13 centers in the last 18 months, said Robert Perlmutter, executive vice president of leasing, adding, “They were in smaller markets and were lower-growth assets.” Basic “We’re also selling C and D malls,” said Joseph Coradino, chief executive officer of PREIT. “We sold three last year and have three for sale now and one in agreement.
