4 Annual General Meeting – December 18th, 2014 PRESIDENTS REPORT

Good evening.

Another year has passed. Our 49th in the VFA/VFL competition, a lot has happened, much activity around the club and a lot more to come.

After six years of service, our President, John Barry, resigned in July. John put a lot of time and effort into the role and was instrumental in getting our new club rooms up and running and construction finally underway. He is missed and remains a member and avid fan. As Vice President, I stepped into the role and have been President since that time.

This year also saw the retirement of Bryan Mace - he needs no introduction here tonight, but remains a volunteer and dedicated supporter. Bryan was also tireless in his effort to get our new club rooms off the ground and his efforts are visible to us all. Bryan has well over 50 years of service logged here at this site - I'm afraid to ask just how many more but his record is certainly unprecedented in modern history for this club.

And so we move forward into the post Mace era - with the departure of Bryan and John, the board was reduced to three members and was not workable. The call went out for both committee and volunteers and a healthy response was received. The board went back to full strength, and five of those six new board members remain with us. I welcome Shellee Pollard, Simon Green, Shaun Warburton, Bruce Cass and Julie Walker. Tonight we elect three new board members. Both Warwick Jones and I have completed our terms of office.

The committee has established three subcommittees (Football, media & comms and Fundraising /marketing) which have healthy numbers and enthusiastic members.

We have also appointed a new General Manager to replace Bryan - Simon Green. He has hit the ground running and has assumed all GM duties. Please lend him your support in his new role.

2014 also saw the departure of our senior coach, Simon Goosey. Simon clearly built up a strong team and a good team ethic. We wish him well in his new role at Cranbourne.

We also have a new senior coach in Paddy Hill. The board interviewed a number of candidates and we received some very high quality applications. We welcome Paddy, and I am pleased to see he has wasted no time getting the boys out on the ground for pre-season training.

We have a lot of interest from our 2014 playing squad, as well as new prospects. They are competing to get a place with us and I know we are going to be fielding a competitive team. Our boys did us proud this year and I am looking forward to the 2015 season.

Our rooms have started construction, as I mentioned earlier - all obstacles have been over- come and the building is beginning to take shape. Construction is expected to be completed in June. We will need volunteers to assist in the finishing of the building before we can occupy it - assistance from members and sponsors would be gratefully received.

5 Annual General Meeting – December 18th, 2014 I would also like to thank all staff, players, sponsors, supporters and coaching staff for their efforts in 2014, without whose help we could not exist. I am constantly amazed at the effort and quality of people who want to be involved in our club.

The club still has a task ahead in attracting new sponsors and funding sources before full revenue from our facility comes online - members and supporters who have ideas, leads or who can assist please come and see Simon.

The club continues to undertake efforts to attract new faces at our club rooms and at our games. We are putting in place more events and social activities, ramping up our communi- ty presence and we are not waiting for our new rooms to be built to do so. We need to be out there in the community, not waiting for them to come to us. So I urge you all to be involved, come down each Friday night, share and retweet our posts on social media (if you are online in those circles) and help raise our profile. Come to our events. Bring your friends. Spread the word.

I encourage all members and supporters to not only renew their membership, but to sponsor a player or take out a foundation membership. Put your name or business on the wall in perpetuity for the life of the building.

Tonight we will elect three new committee members and I am very pleased to see more nominations than we have positions. It’s a healthy sign that people want to be involved.

I know that with your support our club can only go ahead. Merry Christmas to you all - Happy new year.

Brad Hill President FFC

8 Annual General Meeting – December 18th, 2014 OPERATION MANAGER’S REPORT

Upon taking the role over from Bryan Mace in October, there has been a huge learning curve for myself greatly facilitated by the generous offerings of knowledge from many people around the club, and in particular, Bryan Tina and Kerrie.

Our football department led by new coach Paddy Hill has been largely assembled and organized, with many faces returning from last year, along with some new additions amongst the assistant coaching and support staff. Pre-season training is in full swing, and while we have had some higher profile players leave the club, our recruiting has been astute and deliberate, and at the time of writing this report many of the playing areas needing attention have been addressed in an economically responsible fashion.

The new building is now moving along very well, with the concrete all poured and the metal framework being assembled. Negotiations for the fit out and supply of ‘in kind’ works that the club is responsible for are well under way and the club is fortunate to be working closely with well credentialed and experienced people from within the hospitality industry.

With the building due to be finished in June of 2015, it is hoped that a grand opening may be able to be coincided with the Port Melbourne game, tentatively scheduled for late June, or the Collingwood game that looks likely to be played in July.

AFL have continued their support of the club as we work through some short- term challenges, and based on the draft fixture for season 2015 we seem to have been granted a helpful draw for promoting the new facility and maximizing our home game crowd drawing capacity.

10 Annual General Meeting – December 18th, 2014 COACHES REPORT

It was with great pleasure that I accepted the position of Senior Coach of the Frankston Football Club back in October this year. Frankston is a club with over 100 years of history and one of the proudest members of the VFL. To be leading the football department of this great club is an honour and a privilege.

Since October a lot of hard work has gone into building a quality football department and playing list. In that time we have welcomed four new coaches, Adrian Connolly (Mazenod), Andrew Sharp (Bendigo) and Kris Thompson (Springvale), as well as a new Opposition Analyst in Steve Aitkin. Add to this one of the best Strength and Conditioning coaches in the VFL, Ben Griffin and our off field team is starting to take shape. Mark Paganoni, Jason Lucas and Ryan Power all return from last year’s coaching group.

With this group now in place, we will turn our attention to pushing for and achieving benchmark standards in on and off field development. It is our goal to have the best development program in the VFL. This combined with more opportunities to play senior football will give us the edge in future player recruitment.

Our playing list has also seen a turnover with at least 15 new players signed on to be part of our 2015 campaign. While not all carry the expectations of a big reputation, there is no lack of quality in those signed so far. I would like to welcome all those new players to the club and thank them for making the commitment.

Lastly, it has been a very hard pre season for the playing group with over 110 players attending training so far. We have had some great stories of loyalty from some of our senior players who have shown faith in the club and the vision that it could be something special.

The best way as a club to repay that loyalty is for the entire club to come together and help share this vision with the players. The quicker we get everyone on one page, the faster we move forward. This club has the opportunity to be a powerhouse of the competition and provided we embrace our community, work towards a common goal and believe in the process, I have no doubt we will get there.

Patrick Hill Senior Coach

23 Annual General Meeting – December 18th, 2014 GAMING MANAGER’S REPORT

Well it certainly has been an up & down year in the gaming room!

Having taken over the role of Gaming Manager when Tracey left this time last year, the first few months were quite a challenge, as revenue was probably down 15-20% coming into 2014 compared with 2013 (this downturn affected most venues Victoria wide).

In order to give everyone a rough idea how we need to be trading just to remain viable, we need to be producing a daily N.M.R of $150. (NMR is net machine revenue per machine, per day. $150 x 27 machines). This covers most operating expenses, anything over this $150 would possibly allow building of a bank balance for the club. Our average NMR has not been what we would like over the past 12 months, which has made things challenging to say in the least, but I can now add a new job description to my name, that of a JUGGLER.

It’s great to see the construction of our new function centre going ahead in leaps & bounds. For our patrons it has created a bit of a car parking problem, but I must say the figures in the gaming room over the past couple of months have been steady, so it’s well worth it to know we will have a first rate function centre here in 2015.

The help of our local MP Geoff Shaw was invaluable during the course of the year. The quarterly entitlements instalment of $49,623 was fast becoming almost impossible. With Geoff’s help, these payments have now been reduced to $28,086, and will now be paid off in 2019 instead of 2017, two years later, but with a lot more breathing space.

Pre-commitment technology is a legal requirement on all machines by December 2015, and will cost the club approximately $17500-$18000 per year.

We had the option of combining this with a loyalty system (card readers installed on machines for the pre-commitment will be able to read loyalty cards also) but the cost of this was upwards of $40000 per year. For obvious reasons we have opted not to go with the Loyalty at this point in time, but it is something we may need to look at in the future, to remain competitive, and once our new function centre is up and running.

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome Simon Green, our new General Manager. Simon has taken on a huge role, with big shoes to fill, and over the past 3 months has worked tirelessly around the club. I am looking forward to working with him into the future.

A big thank-you to our retired Operations Manager, Bryan Mace. He has been a fantastic support over the last 10 years, I will miss him and wish him well in his retirement. Finally thank-you to my great staff – Sharon, Diana, Melissa, Jordan, Danielle, Ben & Jenny.

Merry Christmas to you all, go DOLPHINS in 2015!!!

Kerrie Dalton Gaming Manager
