Learn about scholarship opportunities, research colleges and career data, get financial aid information, participate in informational sessions with college admission representatives, and obtain additional information related to this current guidance bulletin. Come by and use these great resources to help you with your college and career planning.

 WPHS Community Service Program Receive high school credit for local and in-school community service. See Ms. Geiger Thursdays during lunch period in the Main Office.

 White Plains Youth Bureau The White Plains Youth Bureau is looking for students to participate in the Future Excel Program. Students go on college trips, receive academic support, do community service, receive job training and after school job placement. The Youth Bureau has an office located in the H-Cafeteria or they can be contacted at 422-2617.

Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Graduating senior in good academic standing (3.0 GPA or above) who will attend a college or university full time during the 2016-2017 academic year. Applications available in the College & Career Center. Deadline: April 15th

Dorothy Ann Peters Memorial Scholarship Nursing scholarship based on ability, grades, dedication, financial need, co-curricular activities and sports. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA. Go to College & Career Center for applications. Deadline: April 15th

Sonny Katz Scholarship Seniors who will be majoring in performing arts are encouraged to apply for this $750 scholarship. Applications are in the College & Career Center. Deadline: April 15th

Westchester Alphas Educational Foundation, Inc. WAEF, Inc. book awards in the amount of $1,000 and the Gerald L. Barbour Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 to African- American/Black and/or Latino male seniors who will attend a two or four year college in the Fall of 2016. WPHS PTA Scholarship Seniors who have completed 30 hours of community service between July 1, 2015 and April 8, 2016 are eligible to apply. Pick up application in College & Career Center. Deadline: April 18th

Guy Matthews Scholarship A selection committee will choose a recipient based on academic performance, athletic excellence and good character. Visit the College & Career Center or your guidance office to pick up an application. Deadline: April 18th

Tom Eaton Memorial Scholarship WPHS seniors who participate in a high school sport may apply. A selection committee will choose a recipient based on academic performance, athletic excellence, community service, character and financial need. Applications are in the College & Career Center. CSEA Local 860 Scholarships Children of active CSEA Westchester Local 860 are eligible. Eight scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each and one scholarship in the amount of $2,000 are available. Applications in the College & Career Center. Deadline: April 22nd

North Broadway Citizens Association For North Broadway area residents who exhibit excellent citizenship, attitude and potential for future success and confirmation of post-high school education. Applications in the College & Career Center. Deadline: April 25th

Chaminade Club of Yonkers Scholarship $1,000 scholarship awarded to a high school senior who is a resident of Westchester County and who is accepted to an accredited school of music or college. Audition required. Applications are in the College & Career Center. Deadline: April 23rd

Maureen Brown Memorial Scholarship For WPHS seniors who receive special education services. Recipient chosen based on academic performance and good character and post- graduation plans. Applications are in the College & Career Center. Deadline: May 6th

Dr. Calvin Martin Memorial Scholarship GPA of approximately 3.5 or above, minimum of 1800 on the SAT, and an African American male. Applications available in the College & Career Center. Deadline: May 6th

The White Plains Retired Educators Scholarship $1,000 scholarships to seniors who plan to pursue a career in some field of education, i.e. teaching, counseling, psychology etc. The applicants must have earned a grade point average of 3.0 or better and plan to attend a two or four year institution. Deadline: May 6th

H2M Architects & Engineers 2016 STEM Scholarship For seniors who are pursuing an education in a STEM program and plan to enter a career in architecture, engineering or environmental science. COLLEGE/SCHOOL VISITATION PROGRAM FOR SENIORS ONLY

Juniors may attend only if they have a study hall during the scheduled visit and there is room to accommodate them. Freshmen and sophomores may not attend

Our College/School Visitation Program will be held in the College and Career Center (C-141) at the time indicated. In order to visit with a College Representative during a period in which you have a class, you must first: 1. Fill out the College Visitation Pass at the back of this bulletin (extra copies can be picked up in the C&CC or your guidance office). 2. Take this Pass to the teacher whose class you will miss and have them sign the Pass. 3. Sign the attendance sheet when you arrive in the C&CC for the college conference. 4. At the end of the session, have the WPHS guidance counselor who is attending the college visit sign the Pass. Bring your signed Pass to your house office so you are not marked as cutting for that period. 5. You will be responsible for all work from the class you missed. SENIORS: Be sure to put any college(s) that you are interested in into Naviance. Naviance will notify you of the college(s) upcoming visits.
