Hotel reservations must be made no later than Friday, October 10, 2014, to receive the group discount. You are encouraged, however, to book your room ASAP. Please also send in your registration ASAP, as it helps with advance planning.
Check-in time begins at 3 p.m., and check-out time is 12 noon. Guests must present at check-in a valid photo ID and the credit card used to guarantee the reservation. Hotel provides: Free parking Free shuttle within five miles of hotel (including Dixon Gallery and Gardens, Memphis Botanic Garden, Lichterman Nature Center, and many restaurants and shopping areas)
Getting to Memphis: Driving directions can be found at the hotel website: www.marriott.com/memmm. A link to Maps and Transportation is at the bottom of the home page under Local Area header. The Memphis International Airport (MEM) is served by American, Delta, Southwest, United, and US Airways. Delta provides more flights, but Southwest frequently offers the least expensive airfares. Southwest’s website may indicate that it flies into Memphis only from Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. If you are interested in possibly utilizing Southwest and want to compute the potential total airfare from your home to Memphis, please investigate the fare between your home airport and one of these five cities through which you might connect to Memphis. Free on-call hotel shuttle service is available from and to Memphis International Airport. Shuttle hours are from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Guests should call the hotel at 901-682-0080 for pick-up. Saturday, October 25 7:30 a.m. Board bus to travel three miles to Dixon Gallery and Gardens (some may travel in their cars); coffee, tea, fruit, and muffins will be available upon arrival. For any attendees not on the Board, guided tours of the Gardens are available Saturday morning, and guests are welcome to view the new Rodin exhibition in the gallery beginning at 10 a.m. Dixon Gallery and Gardens hosts the annual Mid-South Daffodil Society/American Daffodil Society Daffodil Show, and we want to share with you this beautiful garden in the heart of Memphis. www.dixon.org
8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Board meeting at Hughes Pavilion at Dixon Gallery and Gardens 11:30 a.m. Box lunches will be distributed; board will continue to meet while eating if necessary. 1:15 p.m. Board bus to travel back to Marriott Memphis East 2 – 5 p.m. Symposium “Progress in Breeding Miniatures” with: Michael Berrigan, Minnesota Brian Duncan, Northern Ireland Larry Force, Mississippi Harold Koopowitz, California Steve Vinisky, Oregon (Harold will give Steve’s presentation) 6:00 p.m. Reception (cash bar) 7:00 p.m. Dinner featuring guest speaker 2014 American Daffodil Society Gold Medal recipient Jan Pennings of the Netherlands, speaking on “Daffodils in China.” Sunday, October 26 Breakfast is on your own; say goodbyes or stick around a few more days to check out some of the great attractions on the following page. October can be beautiful in Tennessee with cool weather and colorful fall leaves. You are invited to attend the Mid-South Daffodil Society program on Sunday, October 26, at 2 p.m. at Dixon Gallery and Gardens, when Brian Duncan will make a special presentation titled “Snowdrops and Daffodils”.
