But while the community has come to understand the reason for the city’s decision, there are those who are step- ping forward to make this year’s Fourth of July event at Foster Park a reality. The county has decided to go it alone for this year’s event. Sinclair said the funds already were managed through the county’s recreation department and taking them off of the table was “never an agenda item.” “It’s budgeted so the action is to take it out,” he said, but the county is not making that move. Instead, it’s looking at other avenues on its own to make the celebration work — first doing it for less and also ask- ing others to help. The supervisor said, as of Thursday afternoon, the county has gotten a good response from three possible corporate sponsors and was working with another. SPRING Not many details have been finalized as of yet but work is continuing on trying to get as much support for the event as possible and bring down the costs so it is affordable not only to the county but also to those who decide to help.
