JULY AUGUST 2015

Without these individuals, Companies and groups, we could not produce the day we do. Without their generosity from dollars to product and assistance we would have just another boring show. We ask that you support these Companies as they are Canadian or operated by Canadians and you will support not only our show, but our economy as well.

What can I say that hasn’t been said before? I am proud of my fellow Club Members and all the effort that they have put in to make this Club a Group to be reckoned with. It takes a lot of dedication and hard work to hosts the different shows we are involved in. I am proud of our association with the OVER & UNDER CLUB. These men and women are as dedicated as we are and maybe just a slight bit crazier. I am proud of our connections with so many from City Hall and beyond. Without all of these people we would be unable to do some of the things we do. Our Classics show was again a “HOME RUN” and the weather was outstanding. The cars were again of the highest quality. This year we had a family from Sudbury with four cars, 2 of which were awarded trophies. What a privilege it was to have the whole family, parents, children, and grandchildren. Of course ITCHY, SCRATCHY and SHOW were outstanding again and wooed the crowd with selections from the 50’s to the 90’s. PATHFINDER once again brought us the SUPERHEROES and added ELSA from Frozen that had the little ones vying for pictures. John Day Distribution brought us MITCH MARKOWITZ a local celebrity from LITTLE HOUSE OF FRIGHTENSTEIN. So we had something for everyone. Again thank you to everyone. AS A REMINDER TO EVERYBODY Blaine Shaw LET’S NOT FORGET THAT THE President FOLLOWING DATES:

Bob McJannett Although I didn’t stay all day you and your Club are to be congratulated on a great show in the middle of the City

Ivon Chaumont – Sudbury - Just want to thank you and your team for the help in us being able to attend as a Family, it was much appreciated. We’ve had many conversations afterwards on your hosted event and we were all very impressed by the Location, Venue, Attendance, Music, and Quality 23 of your show it was just amazing, we have attended many shows but this one was our top pick. As past president of our Sudbury Classic Cruisers Car Club I certainly have good understanding of what it take to put on a show of this Magnitude and Quality. Mississauga I`m sure is very proud of what you and your team have done in their square. Today Family Value is of upmost importance and it was clearly demonstrated with the volume and age group of the attendees at the show. We certainly look forward to attending next year. Thank you, Great Job Regards Ivon

Hello Blaine and Eddy Just wanted to say thank you again for allowing my dad and I to bring cars under such short notice. It was an amazing event. Very well thought out and executed. My hat off to everyone involved. Dad was happy with award and he really liked his bottle of wine. In 1950s, drew a winning bid of $300, but was little more addition to the 200-plus cars that crossed the block, the than a block, heads, valve covers and an oil pan. Sold for display purposes only, most engines were incomplete and likely suffering from a variety of mechanical problems, making them potentially unsuitable for use in restorations. The most interesting, and hence the most expensive, was the 240-cu.in. 1953 Dodge Red Ram Hemi V-8 that sold for $2,400, complete with transmission. A 324-cid 1959 Oldsmobile Rocket V-8, equally complete, brought $1,400, while earlier examples of the engine brought $1,000 (for a 1952 302-cu.in Rocket V-8); $900 (for a 1956 324-cu.in. Tom Hoover in 2006. Photo by George Mattar. Tom Hoover, the Chrysler engineer and founding Answer at the end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! member of the Ramchargers racing team, whose work with high-performance engines would ultimately earn 25 him the nickname “Godfather of the 426 Hemi,” died on April 30 at age 85, following a long-term illness. Hoover joined Chrysler in 1955, after serving in the Korean War and earning a master’s degree in physics from the University of Pennsylvania Penn State. As explained to George Mattar in a December 2006 interview for Hemmings Muscle Machines, his first task at Chrysler was assisting with the development of the Bendix Electrojector system, an early attempt at electronic fuel injection that proved less than successful in implementation. Fortunately for Hoover, his next assignment was in the engine lab, where he initially worked on evaluating an English straight-six engine. While attending the Chrysler Institute, Hoover fell in with a group of employees passionate about drag racing. Calling themselves the Ramchargers, the group funded their initial efforts out of their own pockets, later running a 1949 Business Coupe called the High and Mighty that debuted an ingenious high- ram intake on its donated Dodge engine. Hoover’s confidence in the Ramchargers efforts, as well as the group’s continued success, put the young engineer in the spotlight. When Chrysler President Lynn Townsend was ribbed by his teenage sons about the company’s dowdy image, Hoover was one of the engineers chosen to do something about it. Armed with a budget and backing all the way up the chain of command, Hoover was placed on a team in charge of Tom Hoover, “Godfather high-performance engine development. of the 426 Street Hemi,” dead at age 85 Kurt Ernst May 2nd, 2015 at 3pm | 61 comments Chrysler that same year, going on to work for General Electric and Bosch, among others.

The 426 Max Wedge wasn’t the right engine for the t Her Dad told her this: "You tell your boyfriend that ask, as its cylinder heads didn’t flow the same amount if he opens your bonnet and tries to check your oil of air as engines from Chevrolet and Pontiac. The engine powered Richard Petty’s Plymouth to victory in the 1964 Daytona 500 and swept the podium for Chrysler, but its success This will test you during the ’64 season would also be its downfall; under protest from rival manufacturers, NASCAR banned the 426 Hemi for 1965, on the grounds that it wasn’t really a production engine. Hoover and his team received the green light to change that, creating the 426 Street Hemi that debuted for the 1966 model year. With the engine once again allowed to run in NASCAR competition, Chrysler became a dominant force in both stock car and quarter-mile competition. It’s no exaggeration to call the 426 Street Hemi a significant piece of history, and Hoover will forever be linked to the legendary engine for his work on its development. Among his last projects for the automaker was the 1979 1978 L’il Red Express, the pickup that became infamous for its ability to out-accelerate a Corvette of the same vintage.
