Page 2 Information for prospective Resident Medical Officers Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service 2022 Merit system for Resident Medical Officers The following is the scoring system for Resident Medical Officers applying to Central Queensland Health and Hospital Service in 2021 for the year 2022. Demographics (Total 10 points) Based on the background of the applicant, this selection is meant to have minor weighting compared to the interview. Each of the following lines is ranked from highest to lowest scoring. • Citizenship/Permanent resident/Visa (3,2,1) • Current CQ Health employee - YES/NO (2,0) • General registration (3) Interview Structured interview based around four scenarios, each of which matches a category. The interview panel consists of the Director of Clinical Training (DCT) or a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) and a Medical Education Officer. Volunteers for this process will be sought by the Principal Medical Education Officer. The interview will be in person, or via video conferencing. The areas for assessment are professionalism and self-care, continued professional development, crisis management and clinical knowledge. Each scenario has model answers and interviewers will grade against this. Below are examples of the criteria assessed (A-C) and a guide to the type of knowledge that gains merit. Where scenarios are involved, each resident will only complete one. The aim of the system is to encourage the development of qualities our health service deem valuable.
