Mick Gill Following the sad passing of Mick last Wednesday morning we will be having a Minutes Silence prior to kick-off

‘In the summer of 2006 I came to Wealdstone as Gordon’s 1st team Coach, &, as always in my footballing career, Dad came with me. From day one it became clear exactly what the Football Club actually stood for. In many ways its’ values embodied everything that my Dad held dear. Honesty, togetherness, integrity, dignity, traditionalism, family & an overwhelming desire to fight your corner & look after your own. In many ways I was oblivious to most of the relationships that he’d developed with other supporters as I went about my job with the team. Latterly, after a fantastic 10 years, & having relinquished my position within the club as a result of Dad’s ever deteriorating condition (that I never made him aware of as he’d of hated that), I realised just how strong a bond he’d developed with both the Club & the people associated with it. Even in his final months when he was too ill to attend matches I’d sit with him every Saturday afternoon & keep [email protected] TWITTER - @WealdstoneProg him updated of every bit of action of every game via either a Twitter feed or some other form of notification & I’m convinced he understood whatever I was telling him be it good or bad ! Even in the last 3 weeks of his life in his Carehome the door to his room had his picture on it complete with his Stones scarf & the self same scarf adorned one of the pictures in his room. Dad loved his football & he loved genuine people - which is why I know he felt so at home & happy amongst you all. So, from my perspective, I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my Dad (& me) feel so at home here for so many years. A special club with special people. My family & I thank you all for allowing my Dad the privilege of being a part of The Wealdstone Family’ - Mark Wealdstone FC (2000) Ltd. FIRST HALF The game began quietly before the home side got quickly into rhythm and scored after 11 minutes courtesy of striker Alex Wall. A cross swung in from the left hand side by Tyrone Sterling made it simple for Wall to glance his header past Stones ‘keeper Jonathan North. It only took Wealdstone six minutes to respond with a chance of their own. Reece Mitchell passed to Godfrey Poku on the right hand side who crossed – the ball found Colchester loanee Eoin McKeown free at the near post but McKeown could not guide his header towards goal. Only a minute later, Concord scorer Wall saw his Wall2 11’, 84’ free kick to the left of the penalty box fizz past the Pratt2 31’, 82’ far post. Wealdstone then dominated proceedings for ten LINE-UP minutes and got their reward in the 31st minute. LINE-UP Stones full-back Ramarni Medford-Smith on the Beasant left played the ball square into Crawley Town North Popo loanee Tarryn Allarakhia who skipped past a Mitchell Shaw Concord player and stormed into the box. Medford-Smith www.wfcmegastore.co.uk Essam McKeown then took the ball off Allarakhia in the Stevens Minshull box, quickly cut onto his right foot and shot at Okimo Sterling Concord goalkeeper Sam Beasant – Beasant Poku Blackman saved McKeown’s shot but the rebound fell to Allarakhia David Pratt to tuck home his first goal since Wall November. Hunt Wall sprinted into the box and shot left footed across goal but the finish went wide of North’s far post. Gardner McKeown answered with a chance of his own six minutes later as he charged into the box from the

wealdstone left and saw his curling effort saved by Beasant. The game lacked key chances from both sides in the second half but Wealdstone held their shape well off the ball. Jeffrey Monakana came off the bench in the 69th minute and made an impact on the left hand side with his pace. Monakana’s impact was crucial in the 82nd minute when he picked up a loose ball from the left hand side and crossed near post finding Pratt for his second. The Stones looked like they would take all three points away from home but Wall fired in from point-blank range at the back post just two minutes later after latching onto Danny Green’s cross from the right hand side. Concord finished the game stronger and were searching for their first potential winner of the New Year but Wealdstone held on for the draw.
