Summary Park SDC Acquisition & Development Charge Plan Portland is growing. By 2020, the city – is expected to have over 70,000 new resident and 100,000 new employees. The Central City---including downtown-- -will grow by over 50%. As more and more people live in the city, the need for green spaces will become all the more important. We all want to enjoy quality parks, and so will Portland’s new residents and employees. The proposal for a revised Park System Development Charge seeks to provide Portlanders with access to parks helping to make Portland a great place to live, work and play. In order to realize that vision, the Park System Development Charge Acquisition and Development Plan was developed utilizing the goals of the Parks 2020 Vision as a guide, with direction from plans for park infrastructure, such as the Regional Trails System Plan and park master plans. That information, combined with a thorough analysis of projected growth patterns and taking into consideration access to existing parks, defined the target areas for new parks, natural areas and trails. The following maps detail PP&R’s priorities for acquisition, development and restoration of parks, natural areas and trails for Park SDC revenue through 2020. This investment will work hand-in-hand with efforts to secure additional funding from both public and private sources for enhancements to these new parks and trails, thus creating a sustainable parks system that is responsive to Portland’s growing and changing population. 205 Kelley Point 5 Park SDC Park Trails Investments 1998 - 2007 SDC Investment Type Vancouver New Parkland Developed / Restored Portland Parks Metro Camas Oregon Parks & Recreation Kenton Park Parks and natural areas partially or wholly Columbia Slough purchased, developed or restored thanks Forest Park Trail Whitaker Ponds Natural to an investment of Park SDC revenue.
