Download Directions in PDF Format Directions to Jozini Tiger Lodge Jozini Tiger Lodge & Spa is located in a prime position in the heart of Zululand, surrounded by World Heritage Sites and some of the most acclaimed Nature Reserves in the world, including the iSimangaliso Wetland Park (a UNESCO declared World Heritage site) and the Maputaland Marine Reserve. Easily accessible from Durban and Gauteng, The Lodge’s location is ideal for those looking to access Swaziland, the Kruger National Park or Mozambique, all of which are in close proximity to the Lodge. Directions from Durban: (±300 km / 3 hours) • Take the N2 freeway heading North (sign boards will indicate Stanger). • Continue directly on the N2 passing Richards Bay, Mtubatuba , Hluhluwe and Mkuze. • 10km on the N2 past the town of Mkuze, you will see a right turn indicating Jozini. • Turn right at the sign board and continue for 19km over the Lebombo Mountain Pass. • As you enter Jozini, with the SAPS on the right, turn left onto gravel road. • Travel a further 100m down this road until reaching the Jozini Tiger Lodge security checkpoint and gate. Driving from Johannesburg : (±500 km / 5 hours) • Take the N4 or N12 towards Witbank & Middleburg. • Follow signs to the N11 heading to Hendrina & Ermelo. • Follow signs to the N2 to Piet Retief & Pongola. • From Pongola continue on the N2 towards Mkhuze, following the signs to Jozini. • 10km before Mkhuze, a Jozini sign will be indicated. • Turn left at the Jozini sign and continue for 19km over the Lebombo Mountain Pass. • As you enter Jozini, with the SAPS on the right, turn left onto gravel road. • Travel a further 100m down this road until reaching the Jozini Tiger Lodge security checkpoint and gate. It consists of the following four local municipalities: uMhlabuyalingana, Jozini, Big 5 Hlabisa and Mtubatuba. The Isimangaliso Wetland Park, is encompassed in the district and it holds a number of biodiversity and conservation areas attracting a number of tourists to the region. DISTRICT SPATIAL FEATURES UMkhanyakude District Municipality is located in the far north eastern corner of the province. The district is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east and Mozambique and Swaziland to the north, as well as two KZN districts to the south and west. The district shares international borders with two countries: Mozambique in the north and Swaziland along its north-western boundary. The Lubombo SDI corridor (MR439) was upgraded in the late 1990s to a tar road – extending from Hluhluwe through to Mbazwana to join the only other tar road in the region at Pelindaba, before heading north east through KwaNgwanase (Manguzi) to the Mozambique border at Farazel. The dominant land tenure of the district is communal tenure under Ingonyama Trust lands. The only privately owned commercial farms lie in a narrow strip along the N2 from Mtubatuba to Mkuze.

These include the declaration of “Bioregions” and the publication of “Bioregional Plans”. Bioregional plans are usually an output of a systematic spatial conservation assessment of a region. They identify areas of conservation priority, and constraints and opportunities for implementation of the plan. The precursor to a Bioregional Plan is a Biodiversity Sector Plan (BSP), which is the official reference for biodiversity priorities to be taken into account in land-use planning and decision-making by all sectors within the District Municipality. The overall aim is to avoid the loss of natural habitat in Critical Biodiversity Areas (CBAs) and prevent the degradation of Ecological Support Areas (ESAs), while encouraging sustainable development in Other Natural Areas.
