Intent of Collections Policy Document This Collections Policy defines the purpose and scope to the plant collections at the CHicago Botanic Garden. As a workinG document, this policy will empower the Garden to collect and procure plant material that supports all aspects of our mission. Plant material includes livinG plants, seeds, cuttings, Herbarium voucHers, DNA samples, and tissue cultures. THe Collections Policy is a central component of the Garden’s mission and exists to support all functions of the Garden, includinG: • Display Plant Collections • Plant Exploration • Plant Evaluation • Plant BreedinG • CHicagoland Grows® Plant Introduction ProGram • Education ProGrams – adult, youth, family, teacHer and student • Horticulture THerapy ProGram
