UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - 2014/15 SEASON MATCH PRESS KITS Estadio Santiago Bernabéu - Madrid Tuesday 9 December 2014 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Real Madrid CF Group B - Matchday 6 PFC Ludogorets Razgrad Last updated 29/05/2015 04:50CET UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE OFFICIAL SPONSORS Match background 2 Legend 4 1 Real Madrid CF - PFC Ludogorets Razgrad Tuesday 9 December 2014 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid Match background Group B winners Real Madrid CF are looking to maintain their perfect record in the group stage when they host PFC Ludogorets Razgrad on matchday six. • Madrid are the only club in the competition with five straight wins and are bidding to repeat the 100% group stage record they achieved previously in the 2011/12 season. • Visitors Ludogorets are bottom of Group B but would claim third place, and UEFA Europa League entry, with a victory at the Santiago Bernabéu. A draw would only be enough if Liverpool FC were to lose to FC Basel 1893 in the group's other game. Match background Real Madrid • Madrid's 1-0 victory over Liverpool on matchday four was their tenth straight home success in the UEFA Champions League, two fewer than the competition record set by Manchester United FC between 13 September 2006 and 29 April 2008. • The Merengues are unbeaten in 19 UEFA Champions League matches on home soil, winning 17, dating back to April 2011. • Madrid's only previous home game against Bulgarian opposition was a 2-0 victory over PFC Levski Sofia in the first round of the 1979/80 European Champion Clubs' Cup (3-0 aggregate). • Aside from Madrid in 2011/12, only four other clubs have managed six out of six wins in a UEFA Champions League group stage: AC Milan (1992/93), Paris Saint-Germain (1994/95), FC Spartak Moskva (1995/96) and FC Barcelona (2002/03). Ludogorets • Beaten 2-1 at home by Madrid on matchday two, Ludogorets are still seeking a first win over Spanish opposition. • Ludogorets' inaugural UEFA Europa League campaign last season ended on Spanish soil with a 1-0 defeat at Valencia CF in the round of 16 (0-4 agg). It was their first trip to face Liga opposition. • Starting with that loss in Valencia, Georgi Dermedzhiev's team are on a six-match winless run on the road in Europe – including defeats against Group B rivals Liverpool (1-2) and Basel (0-4). Coach and player links • As Juventus coach, Carlo Ancelotti oversaw a 4-2 aggregate win over Levski in the 1999/2000 UEFA Cup second round. • He was a player in the AS Roma side who beat PFC CSKA Sofia (2-0 agg) in the 1983/84 European Cup second round. Ancelotti also helped AC Milan to a 5-2 home victory over Levski in the 1988/89 European Cup first round en route to winning the trophy. • Luka Modrić helped Croatia earn a 1-0 away UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying victory over a Bulgaria side including Vladislav Stoyanov, Svetoslav Dyakov and Yordan Minev on 10 October. • Gareth Bale hit the only goal when Wales beat a Bulgaria team including Georgi Terziev in a UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier in Sofia in October 2011. • Brayan Angulo lost home (0-1) and away (0-2) Liga matches against Madrid with Granada CF last season. He has also played in Spain for Rayo Vallecano de Madrid and CD Atlético Baleares • Spaniard Dani Abalo was an RC Celta de Vigo player from 2006–13, with a spell on loan at CF Gimnástic de Tarragona in 2011/12. Match facts Real Madrid • Sergio Ramos serves a one-game suspension on matchday six after picking up a third yellow card last time out. • Madrid equalled FC Barcelona's 2005/06 Spanish record of 18 successive wins in all competitions with Saturday's 3- 0 victory over RC Celta de Vigo. • Cristiano Ronaldo scored a record 23rd Liga hat-trick against Celta to become the ninth player to hit 200 goals in the Spanish top flight. • Ronaldo has registered in 16 of his last 18 games in all competitions – 27 goals in total – and in 17 consecutive Liga fixtures at the Bernabéu. 2 Real Madrid CF - PFC Ludogorets Razgrad Tuesday 9 December 2014 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid • Madrid have scored 67 goals during their 18-game winning sequence. • James Rodríguez struck twice to take his tally this season to nine goals as Madrid beat third-tier UE Cornellà 5-0 in the Copa del Rey round of 32 on 2 December. • Goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco and 19-year-old Javier Muñoz made their competitive debuts against Cornellà while Álvaro Medrán was handed his first start for the club. • Modrić is expected to be sidelined until February with a thigh problem. • Along with Manuel Neuer and Lionel Messi, Ronaldo is on the three-man shortlist for the 2014 FIFA Ballon d'Or. The award will be presented in Zurich on 12 January. Carlo Ancelotti has been shortlisted for Coach of the Year. • Madrid announced the signing of Marco Asensio from RCD Mallorca on Friday. He has since moved on to 28. • The Bulgarian outfit parted company with coach Stoicho Stoev after the first leg of their third qualifying round tie against FK Partizan, replacing him with the club's academy director, Dermendzhiev. 3 Real Madrid CF - PFC Ludogorets Razgrad Tuesday 9 December 2014 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid Legend ALL-TIME STATISTICS The all-time record of the competing clubs in UEFA club competition.
