“We all have a purpose in life and a reason for being on this wonderful Earth and I believe God has a plan and he puts us into a Philosophy position where we chose a path that becomes our destiny.”

I have chosen Africa with a purpose of doing good, playing a part in “ Doing Good In Africa.” developing this wonderful continent and to be proud of being born an African. Yes I am a proud African blessed to be a blessing doing good in Africa. As an African with a purpose of doing good, of playing a part in developing this wonderful continent I am humbled by the need to serve my country as leader and administrator in ZIFA.

Guided by the principals of passion, purpose, people and accountable leadership I believe that success in any sphere is a team effort.

To take Zimbabwean football to continental and global heights, we require a clear vision, purposeful activity, accountability and

TDC JUUL commitment to serve.

Passion is the driving force that motivates spirituality, creativity, political opinions, economic status, social, or personal well being - shaping, you as an individual, those you connect with and the opportunities you pursue. It is passion that shapes my purpose in life and in business. A Purpose shared with a community who believe in shaping and building collective dreams that give a sense of belonging, accomplishment, trust and innovation. It’s this team spirit, a people’s spirit where innovation comes from working together, challenging each other and supporting each other drives my vision to reality. Success in our vision requires People to make dreams a reality. It is the equilibrium of culture and leadership that inspires people, in unimaginable ways to lead to a long-term success.

To succeed we require, vision, purpose, commitment and we need others, to be a team with a vision that will become reality.

‘The excitement of the future is we can shape it.”

Strategic Clubs The sustainability of the game depends largely on the quality of the Overview game as played by technically and physically developed players. Essentially, clubs need to be run along commercial lines to the extent that they are profitable entities in their own right. Profitable clubs “Grass roots football, coordinated then plough some of their profits into the development of their coach development and sound players and infrastructure. Central to my plan is the concerted effort on youth development. This will only be possible if clubs enjoy administration are essential sustained profitability. Under my leadership, ZIFA will play a pivotal elements of success in today’s role in ensuring the continued development of our coaches. There is no valid reason why our clubs cannot command premium sponsorship global game”. - Trevor Juul and television revenue as experienced in other countries. Further, I plan to assist clubs to develop new revenue streams to augment gate revenues.

Stadia I plan to introduce a new business model that will usher in win/win outcomes for clubs and venue owners. The current model where nearly all clubs in the league do not own their home grounds must be re-visited for purposes of improvement. I lead efforts to improve the relationship between the clubs, ZIFA and municipalities along the lines of the German Bundesliga where revenue sharing is common place. To my mind, stadiums must be environments where fans can visit to enjoy football, shopping and other amenities and forms of entertainment currently not available in our country.

Fans Football fans are the consumers of the beautiful game and they deserve the best football entertainment that ZIFA and the clubs can provide. Throughout the world fans will sacrifice their hard earned money to watch good and entertaining football. With the advent of new technologies, I will introduce fan interaction platforms to bring fans back into the stadiums. In collaboration with football club management, stadium owners and the Board of Directors of ZIFA, we will create family recreation, shopping and entertainment zones around stadium vicinities. This will allow for families to gather early to enjoy facilities created for them before watching their games of choice. “It is about the fans after all”.

efforts and work ethic to the Glory of God, through Church, social and Spirituality business support programs in Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

“With a positive mind set and I believe in the importance on God’s work and believe this is a calling knowledge that there is a loving from God. COPYRIGHT © TREVOR DAVID JUUL 2014 Page 7 I am continually seeking to improve, mend, and alter the overall nature and quality of my life and those less fortunate around me. This was instilled by a family that believed in positive thinking. Born in , Zimbabwe, I received my early education at Milton Junior School, and went on to receive distinction in the final school exams. The extension of this belief saw me excel at a number of sports at school and club level. Continuing at University in the UK and on returning to Africa, I played and coached at the highest level in African Passion football and participated in the then African Champion’s League . During my stay in England, I was attached to Nottingham Forrest Football Club for a short while in the early eighties when the famous “When health is absent, wisdom Brian Clough was manager. Upon my return I won a number of trophies with the various clubs where I was coach. I was coach at cannot reveal itself, art cannot Bulawayo Wanderers – late Eagles FC, at Arcadia United and won was become manifest, strength with, including Eagles, Arcadia and won championship medals and five cannot be exerted, wealth is cup medals with Dynamos Football Club. useless, and reason is powerless.” In 1991, I was elected chairman of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) and led football in the country for two years during the - Herophiles association’s most successful period. During this period I was voted member of FIFA and co- chairman of the Confederation of Southern African Football (COSAFA). It was then that my love for football and the realisation of its positive influence led to the development of the coaches association for youth and the grass roots football - a coaching programme and the trading of coaches with the English FA.

This culminated in the creation of the famous dream team that started the campaign with the famous 4/1 victory over South Africa which was the start and catalyst that built national pride and interest in football once again. In addition to my personal achievements as a player and coach my history and profile clearly demonstrates my deep love for the game of football. I have experienced the nerves of preparing for major cup finals and international games where one leads a team against 60 000 passionate fans as witnessed in Cairo, Egypt when Zimbabwe’s Dream Team shuttered many dreams.

I know what it is to run out from the dressing room onto the green TREVOR DAVID CARELSE JUUL turf and feel the adulation of 60 000 cheering fans roaring as you enter the field with your team. Football is about the team. You can be a great player, be it Pele, Ronaldo or Messi, but without your team you will never succeed. I am a team player and a leader who knows what it is to successfully lead; to win as a team.

COPYRIGHT © TREVOR DAVID JUUL 2014 Page 8 I undertake to make the ZIFA brand a successful one starting with the executive, leagues; the teams; referees; coaches; players and most of all the supporters. Filling the national stadium and giving people hope, belief and pride is part of what I see as being important in football development.

My passion and commitment to football development in manifest in my role as Chairman of Sandton Sports Club, Johannesburg. Under my Passion leadership, I initiated the promotion of a youth development program to encourage and empower underprivileged children in sports.

The club’s scope was broadened to embrace many other sporting disciplines and provide children and the youth the choice of tennis, basketball, cricket, hockey ,swimming, ball room dancing, karate, volleyball and soccer. The Club now has a strong and growing junior membership of over 500 children. Many youth events are held and

Unity in Football – Football brings people together and can help in “Football is a passion and an nation building. It will be necessary to create an environment in which collective success is enjoyed through diversity as only inspiration having spent much of football can. With the Board of ZIFA, we would look to reintroduce my life contributing to the game the ZIFA Unity Cup as a sign of consolidating the Unity of the nation as a player, coach, administrator, which was achieved in 1987 between ZANU-PF and PF-ZAPU. I am aware that it was done before but my view is that it left out the bulk of the population. I envisage an inclusive tournament whose format will be appreciated by the whole nation. Through the suggested format, the legacy of the Founding Fathers of our beautiful country will be passed on from generation to generation. Sponsorship of this competition will be secured as there are many organisations that would want to be associated with a united

I wish to introduce the ZIFA F.A. Cup which is traditionally an Association Cup Competition. This is of course a competition which ZIFA uses to boost its finances and was previously known as the Castle Cup or ZIFA Cup. In many countries, the FA Cup is an important and prestigious competition for all clubs as the competition starts at the lower leagues and can bring aspiring third division teams against the big premier league teams.
