Thursday March 7 Prague Welcome to the capital of the Czech Republic! Prague is renowned as one of the most picturesque cities in Europe and boasts a remarkably well preserved medieval centre. Perhaps no other city in Europe has a deeper appreciation for classical music then Prague, where Mozart came on tour five times and debuted some of his most famous operas. A guided walking tour will introduce you to many of the magical sites Prague is famous for including: Prague Castle, the charming “Lesser Town” and Market Square, National Theatre, the Church of Saint Nicholas, and the famous Charles Bridge. The Old Town Square is a must-see with beautiful monuments, the Tyn Church, and the exquisite 14th C. astronomical clock. You will learn interesting facts about the Old City Center and the Malá Strana, one of the most historic regions in Prague. Enjoy a welcome dinner with traditional Czech cuisine. Friday March 8 Prague This morning enjoy an in-depth guided tour of the Prague Castle district. The castle complex dates back to the 9th C. and the Guinness Book of Records lists it as the largest ancient castle in the world. Today, it is the official residence of the president of the Czech Republic. Among the complex buildings is St. Vitus Cathedral, the largest and most important church in the country; St. George’s Basilica, the oldest surviving church building within the Castle and now an art museum and concert hall; and the King’s Palace. Later in the afternoon we will perform at one of Prague’s famous concert halls or churches. Tonight’s folklore dinner will feature local music! Overnight in Prague.

Saturday March 9 Prague Josefov, located between the Old Town Square and the Vltava River is one of Prague’s most famous and unique districts. This historic Jewish Quarter was named after Emperor Josef II who emancipated the Jewish population in 1781. Most of the quarter was demolished between 1893 and 1913, leaving six beautiful synagogues, the old cemetery, and the Old Jewish Town Hall. A guided visit to the Old New Synagogue, one of the most valuable Jewish monuments and oldest active synagogue in Europe is a fascinating step into the Jewish past. The Pinkas Synagogue is a haunting memorial to those lost in the Holocaust. This afternoon there will be free time for you to shop and explore the city centre in small groups. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Sunday March 10 Prague - This morning, board the coach and travel north through the Bohemian Mountains and cross into Germany. Upon arrival in Dresden, the historic capital of the Kingdom of Saxony, you’ll enjoy a guided visit of Kulturpalast concert hall and experience the beautiful music from the epic organ - with 4,013 pipes! Afterwards, a guided walking tour through the beautifully reconstructed heart of the city will show you the famous baroque Palace, Semper Opera house, Cathedral, and the Dresden Residential Palace. In the early evening, enjoy a public organ concert in the beautiful Frauenkirche, followed by dinner in a local restaurant. After dinner attend a live opera or classical music performance (based on availability). Overnight in Dresden.

Monday March 11 Dresden - Leipzig - Dresden Board the coach for the day trip to Leipzig a vibrant city with a rich musical history. Home to many composers over the centuries such as Bach, Mendelssohn, Schumann and Wagner, your guided tour of Leipzig will include the Thomas Church, Nicolai Church, the Market Square, Gewandhaus Orchestra, Opera House, Gohlisser Castle and the Grassi Museum - a building complex home to the Ethnolography, Musical Instruments and Applied Arts Museums. In the afternoon, tour the Bach Museum with it’s interactive multimedia exhibition. There will be a CDS performance later this afternoon. Overnight in Dresden. Tuesday March 12 Dresden Today we will enjoy a guided tour of Semperoper opera house, a marvellous Baroque architectural building with beautiful monuments depicting artists such as Moliere, , , , Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and . Free time in the city centre, followed by an afternoon CDS performance. After dinner, enjoy composer Antonio Vivaldi’s performance of ‘The Four Seasons’ at the Zwinger. Overnight in Dresden.

Wednesday March 13 Dresden - Potsdam - Berlin This morning, board the coach for Berlin, stopping in Potsdam enroute. Potsdam was the royal residence of the German Emperors until 1918. As a result, the city is dotted with magnificent palaces bordering serene lakes. Enjoy a guided tour of the beautiful Sanssouci Palace and it’s enormous gardens, which once served as the principal residence of Frederick the Great, former King of Prussia. Continue the short distance to Berlin, the renewed capital of Germany and one of Europe’s greatest cities. Berlin is eight-times the size of Paris and is a very unique cultural destination. The imperial majesty of the Prussian Empire is reflected in post-communist freedom and commerce. Berlin, however, cannot escape its complicated past, and the architecture of the city shows the trauma of WWII and the post-war era. Check into the hotel and have dinner. Overnight in Berlin.

Friday March 14 Berlin Today will focus on the 20th C. divided history of the city on a guided city tour. Your guide will highlight places of interest pertaining to WWII and the subsequent Cold War period when Germans lived in the East under communism while their fellow countrymen lived in democratic West Germany. The effects of reunification across the former East and West divide are still being felt. Some of the highlights will include the scenic Unter den Linden Boulevard, the Cathedral, Alexander Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, and the Brandenburg Gate. The Brandenburg Gate is one of the most famous landmarks in all of Germany and leads directly to the Reichstag, the seat of the German Parliament. There will be time to see the remnants of the Berlin Wall and Memorial. Afternoon CDS performance. Dinner this evening will be at a local restaurant. This evening, enjoy a live performance at Charlottenburg Castle, the largest and most beautiful castle in Berlin. Overnight in Berlin.

Saturday March 15 Berlin After breakfast visit the “Story of Berlin” Museum, which provides an easy introduction and accessible snapshot of over 800 years of Berlin’s history and different eras. A highlight of the museum is the original nuclear bomb shelter from the Cold War located below Kurfürstendamm that can still be used in an emergency by over 3,600 people! After supervised free time for lunch, you’ll visit Berlin Philharmonic for a guided tour throughout the concert hall. There will be some free time this afternoon for shopping before the final farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Berlin.
