Quote of the Week: “We are not to ask for nor refuse those things that are purely indifferent, which only self-love would make us desire or refuse. Undoubtedly souls adopt an admirable practice who live prepared for whatever God wishes to do with them and in them, unconcerned about everything except to abide near him, to do and to endure faithfully whatever his Providence puts in their way at each moment.” ~ St Jane de Chantal Parish News & Events

Very Rev. Lewis S. Fiorelli, OSFS, Provincial and the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales invite you to make a resolution to attend the 17th Annual Live Jesus! event on Saturday, March 21, 2020, 8:00 am - 12:45 pm at OLGC Church & DeSales Hall. “Seeking Unity by Living Jesus” by Rev. Brian Zumbrum, OSFS. In a world where gentleness is hard to find and divisions are getting more pronounced, we seek unity. Using the lens of Salesian Spirituality, we will explore ways to heal these divisions through getting proximate with those situations and God’s children with whom we are not comfortable. In this work, we will discover the true power that our Spirituality offers us in the d mi st of brokenness and difficultly. Father Brian will share life changing experiences gained from his ministries at Nativity Prep and Salesianum High School.

“Friendship, Foundation, and Family” by Br. Dan Wisniewski, OSFS, Sr. Anne Elizabeth Eder, OSFS and Ms. Paula M. Riley. Brother Dan will address the benefits and challenges of friendships iniffi d cult, divisive times. Hewill draw upon the teachings of Saint Francis de Sales on friendship and share his experiences maintaining friendships while working with college students and living in community. Sr. Anne Elizabeth will guide us in our reflection on the struggles of a foundation in our Salesian tradition. She will explore how our Oblate founders, Blessed Louis Brisson and Saint , dealt with these challenges to build a vibrant community, allowing us to follow in their footsteps. These bonds of love create unity and strengthen each of us as we face challenges together, seeking what is right, true, and good in each person and situation. Paula will explore the conflicts and complexities in her roles as wife, mother, sister, friend, professional, and volunteer. She will share how her faith and encounters with Salesian Spirituality have guided her through life’s conflicts. Pick up a flyer at the Welcome Desk or on the pamphlets racks outside the church. Registration is required. Visit events.oblates.or /live- esus/

Seven Deadly Sins, Seven Lively Virtues Tuesdays Feb 25th - April 7th During the Season of Lent, our Tuesday Scripture Study will be exploring Seven Deadly Sins, Seven Lively Virtues. Join Bishop Robert Barron for this presentation of the seven deadly sins, those great spiritual blocks that inhibit our flourishing in relationship with God and one another. Based on Dante’s writings, the seven deadly sins correspond to the seven stories of Dante’s Mt. Purgatory. Pride, envy, anger, sloth, gluttony, avarice and lust are all presented as patterns of dysfunction within us that lead to unhappiness. Bishop Barron shows us how to counteract these seven sinful patterns through a conscious process of opposition, known as the “seven lively virtues." These offer antidotes to each sin and help set us on the right path to healing and happiness. Study will take place on Tuesdays, February 25-April 7th, 9:15 am to 11:15 am, in St. Joseph Center, Brisson Room. For more info and to purchase the study guide, check out our website: www.o cva.o /faith-formation/adults. Questions? Contact Amy inW kler, dre@o cva.org, 703.896.7414.

Our teachers educate, inspire, cultivate, and affect positive change. They have a life-long impact. For 30 hours in February, please open your hearts and show your love for our teachers! All funds raised during the Day of Giving will go towards "Mrs. Jewett’s Toolbox for the Teachers."
