Written by Millennium Entertainment. Hercules is not entirely a disaster, as one might expect. A low-budget PG adaptation of style movies made in Bulgaria, this movie is in line with the expectations on what Renny Harlin is capable of. While not being a disaster on a whole, it's a disaster in parts. The special The Tomb of Hercules, while being descent 3D images at times, are badly connected with live shots. There are many moments when perspective of such sequences is distorted in really obvious and unintentionally funny ways. There are numerous anachronisms. Characters use costumes and jewelry that could not be available in ancient Greece. Screenplay, while not being completely absurd, has some rather awkward dialog lines and unexplainable plot moments. Unfortunately, the movie is not a Hercules legend but rather a shallow love story and family drama. The Tomb of Hercules even a bathing scene in a romantic- looking pond with flowers under a waterfall the water in the pond is so dirty though that one can only feel pity for the actors. There are no heroic deeds of Hercules depicted in this movie. One last blow for Hercules is PG rating. There's no blood at all. When swords pierce bodies, they re-appear absolutely clean. When one of the characters was struck in the neck, the next shot showed his The Tomb of Hercules without a sign of a would or even a drop of blood. One of the few things the movie managed to deliver were some dynamic battle sequences; but PG- 13 made them look fake. I love these books for the fact that they don't pretend to be anything they're not. This is the follow-up to the equally silly Hunt For Atlantis. And yes, it is as ridiculous as it sounds, but so enjoyable and so much fun. Dastardly villans and booby-trapped tombs are dispatched by the heroic couple as they do their damndest to save the world. Good read, loved the action hero - Chase, ex SAS, Yorkshire man - you don't see that often in adventure thrillers! This was a quick read. However, the title was a bit misleading. The finding of the tomb only took a small portion of the book. The real story line had nothing to do with the tomb. However, I will continue to read the books in this series. Not as strong as "The Hunt for Atlantis" mainly because the middle third of the book had little to do with the Hercules theme. Still, the stunts were exciting. I'm always amazed how guys like McDermott and Matthew Reilly can come up with some of these action scenes. Once again, a bad guy has big plans for some secret hidden within the vaults of a legendary figure--this time Hercules. We're also introduced to Chase's ex-wife Sophia. I still think Reilly is a better action writer The Tomb of Hercules McDermott but the latter's not far off. His stories aren't quite as strong, but he's fun to The Tomb of Hercules.
