TPC Sawgrass Golf Course Maintenance Operations: Internship

TPC Sawgrass is home to THE PLAYERS Championship, the birthplace of the TPC Network, and the backdrop to the PGA TOUR headquarters. Located in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, it is perhaps the world’s most famous golf course. Golf enthusiast will find not one, but two public PGA TOUR championship courses at the club, both designed by world-renowned architect Pete Dye. Golfweek honored THE PLAYERS Stadium Course as the top course you can play in Florida and ranked tenth among the Best Resort Courses in 2016. Dye’s Valley Course, commonly referred to as the “Valley Course” was ranked No. 14 in GolfDigest’s 2015 ranking of Best Courses You Can Play in Florida.

TPC Sawgrass is looking for an Intern to learn and assist in the Golf Course Maintenance department.

The Golf Course Maintenance Internship Program is designed to provide turf management or agronomy college students with a practical, hands-on learning experience in golf course maintenance operations, agronomic plan management and professional golf tournament preparation. TPC Sawgrass offers interns the unique opportunity to develop a diverse array of skills in the maintenance of both tournament and non-tournament playing conditions.

The Program offers candidates the opportunity to gain the supervised work experience necessary to become Assistant Golf Superintendents. Students will be introduced to the agronomic elements of golf course maintenance as well as such critical concepts as personnel management, financial management, equipment operation and maintenance, maintenance facility organization and upkeep, fertilizer and pesticide application techniques, pesticide laws and regulations, member and guest communication, and environmental stewardship, among others. At TPC Sawgrass there is a strong emphasis on promotion from within this club and the TPC Network with opportunities of varying levels available upon graduation.

Internship benefits include $11.00/hour hourly wage with overtime, housing, uniforms, lunches, golfing privileges and clubhouse discounts. Internships are available all year round.
