No amateurs or exemptions, the 144-player field represents the strongest collection of players assembled each season. The competitor who hoists THE PLAYERS trophy knows that he has beaten the very best and cemented his place in history as a champion. THE PUREST TEST Pete Dye’s masterpiece – THE PLAYERS Stadium Course – favors no one, while demanding excellence from all. To triumph, the world’s best must bring a well-rounded game and execute under the very definition of pressure. The course tests every facet of the game and every club in the bag. Each hole has elements of risk, reward, drama and excitement. Visually intimidating, every shot requires precision, creativity and commitment. Great shots are rewarded, mistakes punished, and flaws magnified. THE DEFINING MOMENT A mere 137-yard shot is an unlikely start to the most recognized hole in golf. But the diabolical amphitheater that combines water, wind and intense pressure makes it the centerpiece of THE PLAYERS Stadium Course. Anticipation and suspense build throughout the day and culminate on that lonely walk from 16th green to 17th tee. One swing for the island green can crush aspirations or cement a championship. It is this decisive moment when players measure themselves against the best while huge galleries gather to witness history. THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE THE PLAYERS Championship was the first tournament conceived with the fan as its focal point. Viewing mounds were built into the original design, allowing spectators to see every hole while ensuring that they are in the middle of all the excitement and drama. THE PLAYERS continues to lead in embracing change to deliver the best experience in the modern game. Whether a specta- tor is there to watch the world’s best players or simply to enjoy all the amenities, THE PLAYERS Championship provides the highest expression of hospitality and entertainment and should be on every sports fan’s bucket list. February 2018 • Volume LIX, Number 2 Lee Popwell, D.C. Greenville, SC Our Creative Creator “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways...” Lee Popwell, D.C. — Isaiah 55:8 As I approach my 40th year of practice, it has become increasingly appar- ent through so many different experiences that I have learned to appreciate how creative our God can be. One of the early occasions where I made note of that was in a change of circumstances in my first year of practice. I graduated from National College in August 1979. I went immediately to Cincinnati, Ohio, to start practice as an associate with a doctor who had mentored me from the beginning of my education, and, in fact, had introduced me to the field itself. The timing seemed so perfect. He had practiced for over 20 years with his fa- ther, and his father retired just before I was graduating, so I was stepping into a busy 2-doctor practice with my chiropractic mentor. To me, at the time, everything seemed perfectly in line to set up my future in chiropractic practice. Surely this was God’s hand guiding me, and I felt very secure as I practiced those first few months under my mentor’s direction. What would happen in a 10-minute period on a Friday morning starting my third month of practice would teach me a valuable lesson that God’s creativity does not always line up with man’s plans. I remember it well. It was a beautiful fall Friday morning as I arrived to work, only to be told by the office manager that the other doctor needed to see me privately in his office.

The World Cup of Golf will be played 23-27 November at Kingston Heath in Melbourne. The event – first played in 1953 – is one of the oldest and most prestigious global golf team events in the world. The 2016 World Cup of Golf will be the 58th staging of the event. Names such as Snead, Hogan, Nicklaus, Palmer, Trevino, Faldo, Ballesteros, Langer, Woods, Els and Day have all been able to call themselves World Champions. Australia has won the World Cup of Golf five times. Jason Day and Adam Scott were champions in 2013. Seven’s partnership with the World Cup of Golf builds on Seven’s coverage of The Australian Open and the Australian PGA Championship along with The Masters from Augusta. Today’s agreement also confirms Seven’s commitment to bringing major events to all Australians. The agreement further strengthens Seven’s leadership as the television network of major international events held in Australia, building on Seven’s coverage of the Australian Open, the World Swimming Championships, the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, the Rugby World Cup in 2003 and the forthcoming Rugby League World Cup in 2017 and Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018.
