What can I do to prevent this in the future? If you are on a personal connection, like at home, you can run an anti-virus scan on your device to make sure it is not infected with malware. If you are at an office or shared network, you can ask the network administrator to run a scan across the network looking for misconfigured or infected devices. Another way to prevent getting this page in the future is to use Privacy Pass. You may need to download version 2.0 now from the Chrome Web Store. Downloading from 0 of 0 peers and no torrent metadata. Post by kiwi1996 » Mon Apr 06, 2015 8:15 pm. Hi, I am quite new to torrenting and I have spent a number of hours now trying to find the remedy to this problem. When I try and torrent something it says 'Downloading from 0 of 0 peers' and also that the torrent metadata is needed. I have tried downloading numerous different torrents. All with plenty of seeders and not to many leachers and good reviews. How to Add Peers in uTorrent. uTorrent is among the best and most popular torrent clients in the world. For the most part, it’s very intuitive and easy to use. And if you know a little about torrents, you’ve probably heard of peers and seeders. These are people who are currently downloading a torrent, helping you download it even faster yourself. In case you were wondering how to add peers in uTorrent, you should know that it can’t be done directly. But you can add trackers, which will add peers and seeders, resulting in faster download speeds. Read on for more details, and remember to always use a VPN when torrenting. What Are Peers? Torrent peers are the people currently downloading the same torrent you’re downloading. When they download a portion of said torrent, they help you download what they have already downloaded. Hopefully, that makes sense, if it truly isn’t complicated at all. Unlike peers, seeders are people who (mostly) intentionally the torrent files they’ve already finished downloading. These help you even more because they’re the whole with you. If you add torrent trackers, you’ll most likely (although not always) increase both the number of peers and seeders. You can find lists of torrent trackers online, but we’ll provide you with one later on. Make sure that you find the updated list of trackers. The one we’ll share is active at the time of writing (January 2020), but if you’re reading this in the future, consider finding an updated tracker list. How to Add Peers. As mentioned, you can’t add peers directly in uTorrent, but you can add trackers – which is basically the same thing. Adding trackers is really easy, just follow these steps: Make sure that you have updated or installed the latest uTorrent program suited for your from the link. Launch uTorrent and start downloading any torrent. Right-click on the torrent while it’s downloading and select Properties from the dropdown menu. The list of trackers will appear at the top of this window. Open this list of torrent trackers, then copy and paste some trackers into the trackers field in the mentioned window. When you’re done, click on OK to confirm the changes. This will increase the number of peers and seeders for your torrent. Sometimes that number is insignificant, whilst other times you should see a great improvement. The result will be an increase in download speed, depending on the numbers. Additional Torrent Tips. Before you start downloading torrents, make sure of the following: Get a decent internet package from your ISP. If you want to increase the download speed of torrents and everything else, you can always get a better package. Of course, this will cost you. Better use a cable connection, rather than a wireless connection. An Ethernet cable connection will give you maximum download speed and internet signal, unlike Wi-Fi. Only download “healthy” torrents. You can easily determine if a torrent is healthy by looking at the number of seeders, and leechers. Seeders are the good guys, leechers are bad. A healthy torrent has at least a 2:1 ratio (e.g. 300 seeders and 150 leechers). Leechers are people who only download a torrent, without seeding it. Use trustworthy torrent sites. In my personal experience, and Rarbg are the best choices, at least at the current time. Step 5 deserves a section all of its own because it’s incredibly important. Always Use a VPN When Torrenting. Torrenting is illegal in most of the western hemisphere. If you live in the U.S. you probably know this already. Therefore, you should find a trusted VPN (virtual private network) service and use it if you’re downloading any torrents. Without a VPN, you’re more likely to be charged for pirating, i.e. breaking copyright laws. Be warned. The fines for this are quite hefty. Instead, why not spend several bucks every month and stay safe? There are many VPN services, not all of which are that great. We recommend using ExpressVPN or NordVPN. Both are very popular and trusted options. They have great encryption and value their users’ privacy. Also, they have many servers across the globe which offer great internet speed. What’s great about these VPN providers is that they allow you to use their service across multiple devices, without having to pay extra. Whenever you’re torrenting, make sure your VPN is active. This way you’ll stay under the radar at all times. Enjoy Fast Torrent Downloads. If you follow our advice, you’ll surely have a much better time torrenting than you did before. Always stay safe with a VPN, and don’t bother downloading unhealthy or sketchy torrent files. These may have malware too, but on trusted torrent sites that usually won’t be the case. When you’re done with your download, remember to seed the torrent so you can return the favor. Don’t be a leecher, sharing is caring. That said, adding more peers is sometimes impossible, usually on older torrents. We recommend that you download torrents as soon as they come out, or shortly after. If you want to watch a show from 20 years ago, you probably won’t have as many peers and seeders as you would for a more contemporary release. Have you ever added peers in a torrent? Why not share your experiences in the comments section below? Torrent has 6 peers but not downloading. Post by Gnildryw » Fri Jun 12, 2015 1:28 pm. Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie with all of this, so my attempts at googling a solution to my problem has come up with naught. Two days ago, all of the torrents I currently have "added" to (about twenty) stopped downloading, even though there appeared to be seeders available (in the seeders collumn it says "0 (15)" for example). I managed to "fix it" though, by downloading another torrent (that had many seeders, 300+) and that seemed to kickstart the others and they continued to download. Yesterday and today though, the same problem occours - nothing downloads no matter what I do, and the "trick" of downloading another file doesn't work. I've tried pausing all of them, only starting one at a time, changed the order of the trackers, updated the trackers, forced a recheck, restarted the program (as well as the computer). Nothing does anything. Some of the new torrents I've added doesn't even "connect enough" to show me the size of the file (but other newly added torrents do, so it's not consistent). I've tried adding torrents from different sources (thepiratebay, kat, ). Usually I use magnet links, but I've tried downloading the torrent file manually and then opening it in deluge afterwards as well, that doesn't change anything. So, I'm a bit at my wits end here - does anyone know what I can do to try and get them started again? OS: Windows 7 Deluge version: 1.3.11 : 0.16.18.0 Antivirus: Avast. I haven't installed any new programs lately (though there was a bunch of windows updates two days ago - but that doesn't explain how the problem occoured, then got fixed, then occoured again). I share my Internet with my neighbour (who has the modem), so I don't know if they have made any changes that could affect this, but the Internet works without a hitch. Re: Torrents don't download even though there are seeders. Post by Gnildryw » Fri Jun 12, 2015 1:34 pm. It works again now - that makes no sense at all (unless writing a forum message is somehow connected by magic. hmm, doubt it). I was about to close the program (no use having it running if it doesn't do anything - and yes, I've had it opened for hours waiting to see if all it took was patience) and then saw that it had started downloading again. I'm so confused. Re: Torrents don't download even though there are seeders. Post by Gnildryw » Fri Jun 12, 2015 1:39 pm. Okay, somehting is deffinitely wrong. Some of the torrents finished quickly (and turned blue with "seeding" written on them), so I deleted those and the remaining torrents kept downloading happily. Then, just to check, I closed deluge and reopened the program. Now nothing downloads again. Please help. Re: Torrents don't download even though there are seeders. They closed down back in April and scammers are using their site now. https://torrentfreak.com/eztv-shuts-dow . er-150518/ https://torrentfreak.com/eztv-disappear . er-150611/ The no incoming connections error is related to not having your ports forwarded correctly. It is probably something that needs to be done in the router, but it could be a firewall on your computer as well. You should uncheck that box for the random port for incoming connections and change it to a static number. They way you have it set up now it will pick a different number every time you restart it. You can set the from and the to to the same number. You only need 1 port. In general several people have had issues with the libtorrent version that shipped with the latest version of deluge. You could try to update that manually and see if that helps. There are links for 1.0.3, 1.0.4 and 1.0.5 in this thread. Just download the file and put the libtorrent.pyd in your c:/program files(x86)/deluge folder. It might work best if you are using the python 2.7 version which is different from the normal one. http://forum.deluge-torrent.org/viewtop . 12&t=50735. What do you think changed all of a sudden? I doubt my neighbours have done anything new (although I can't know that of course without asking them - they're not very tech savy though). Changing the port to manual and choosing just one no. didn't make any difference by the way. I also tried making changes to the firewall settings (there was only one box that made sense to change, but that hasn't helped either). I'll try the libtorrent thingie. It seems kind of hit or miss for people weather the new libtorrent works for people or not. That was why you made a copy of your old libtorrent file first. If it didn't work you could just delete the new one and copy the old one back. I don't know why deleting everything and starting over isn't working though. Uninstall deluge and then delete these 3 folders: C:\Program Files (x86)\Deluge C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\deluge C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Python-Eggs. The last 2 folders are hidden so you might have to adjust your settings: From windows explorer click Organize->folder and search options- >change to view tab->adjust the show hidden files and folders option. Might have to click apply to all folders as well. With all 3 folders deleted I think all traces of deluge should be gone. Then you can try reinstalling. I would recommend the py2.7 version and then maybe the new libtorrent will work. Connected to seeds, but not downloading. I am connected to three seeders in this one torrent, the only torrent I am downloading, but I am not downloading from them! It stopped at 26% despite still connected to these three seeds. I am also connected to one leecher and he is downloading from me, but I am not downloading from the seeders. All I have is an upload speed and a 26% complete torrent. I broke one of my discs so I need this torrent. Unfortunately, these seeders may have slow internet, their torrent 's upload speed limited, or their torrent client set to only seed certain torrents or a certain number of torrents. There can be another case the seeders you have connected might not have the full file . They too have the same percent of file as you have and they are also waiting for other seed who have complete file. Check whether they have full file or not ? You can check the file percent they have in peer list. You'll want to make sure you are fully connectable to maximize your speeds and ability to connect to other peers in torrent swarms. Go through the checklist & make sure you have all your settings correct. First, prior to testing: Make sure you're testing with a known good torrent. e.g. a [Ubuntu torrent] (http://www.ubuntu.com/download/alternative-downloads). If possible try testing with a wired connection (disable or disconnect wireless during testing). This helps rule out any specific issues with wireless networking. General stuff you can double-check when having issues with torrent speeds/connectivity: Are you connected to a network that allows torrents? e.g. many schools, offices, coffee shops, public wifi, etc. actively block torrents. You would need a paid torrent friendly VPN, or paid , to get around that (see rule #4) Are you using a VPN or proxy that is not torrent friendly? If that's the case then you should get rid of whatever you're using & get a paid torrent friendly VPN (see rule #4) Are you connectable (port forwarded)? For your torrent client test the client's connection port with something like www.canyouseeme.org & see if the test passes. If it does not pass then you need to manually configure a port forward through your software firewall and/or network router. Hint: You should not be testing or torrenting with port 80. Also: If setting up a port forward in your network router do not use port triggering. Have you tried disabling any anti-virus/malware programs? They can sometimes interfere with torrent clients. If you find this is an issue you could try whitelisting your torrent clients in your anti-virus/malware programs & see how that goes. Did you enable any bandwidth limits in your torrent client? Setting your upload to something ridiculously low (e.g. 1 KB/s) will negatively affect your download speeds too. Are you using any blocklists? If so, stop using them (see rule #7) Try disabling uTP in your torrent client & see how that goes (with Deluge this can be a bit tricky see r/torrents/comments/51d7zg/question_about_utp_and_deluge_on_the_mac/, for other clients just look in the settings) In your torrent client make sure to set your protocol encryption to "Prefer Encryption" or "Enable Encryption" (not Disable Encryption or Require Encryption), this will allow you to connect to more peers in the torrent swarm. Make sure to enable DHT & PEX in your torrent client, especially if you're using public torrents (this helps you locate more peers in the torrent swarm) Double-check that your torrent client's connection port is a number above 10000 or so. (preferably 49152 or higher, some ISPs rate limit lower port numbers) Also: This port number should not be port 80 or 6881-6889. In your ISP router/modem, check if you have any sort of "flood protection", DDoS protection, etc. type of things enabled. If so disable them. In your network router (or ISP router/modem) check if you have anything like traffic shaping/QOS enabled. If so try disabling them and/or changing the settings.
