Kia ora koutou,

Despite being at Level 2 last week, we were able to hold our own swimming sports. Unfortunately, all inter- school swimming events have been cancelled for 2021 as under Alert Level 2 we are unable to have gatherings larger than 100.

The children had a fantastic day and especially enjoyed their lunch bags. Thank you ASCA for running the BBQ and preparing lunch.

Our Junior children (Year 1 - 3) took part in fun events in the pool during the morning. After lunch the Senior children (Year 4 - 8) competed in the first ever House Group Swimming Competition. I was so impressed with how the older children supported and encouraged the younger ones. It was a very closely fought event; the eventual winners being Tane. Look out for more ‘House Group’ events next term.

This week is our final week of swimming. Thank you Liz for your awesome work teaching our children to swim. It has been fabulous seeing the progress made by all of the children. Next week morning tea and lunchtime will return to their usual times.

On Thursday I will be away from school. I am heading off to to a regional hui for Beginning Principals. During the day we will be looking at the Professional Growth Cycle for teachers, ERO’s new model and BoT roles in relation to the Treaty of Waitangi. This should be a very interesting day.

We have had a few people volunteer to read with children as part of our reading programme. We still have spaces on a Monday and a Friday if anyone else would like to join this group. Thank you to those who have offered already.

Have a lovely week.
