WHOA NELLIE: Nelson Cruz set new career-highs with a major league-leading 40 home runs and 108 RBI this season…His 40 homers are the 2nd-most in club history for a player in his first season with the Birds (49 by in 1966)…Cruz became the 6th Oriole with a 40-homer season, joining (53 in 2013), (50 in 1996), Robinson (49 in 1966), (46 in 1961) and (43 in 1998)…He was named this year’s recipient of the Most Valuable Oriole award by members of the local media.

SULTANS OF SWAT: The O’s became the fourth team since 1920 to have two different players win the home run title in consecutive years (Nelson Cruz in 2014 and Chris Davis in 2013), joining the 1936-37 Yankees ( 49 and Joe DiMaggio 46), 1987-88 Athletics (Mark McGwire 49 & 42), and 1993-94 Giants (Barry Bonds 46 & Matt Williams 43).

WALK IT OFF: The Orioles recorded 10 walk-off wins in 2014 (three via HR: , May 1 vs. Pittsburgh; Chris Davis, June 23 vs. Chicago-AL; and , July 29 vs. Los Angeles-AL)…The Orioles won the June 25 game against the White Sox on a walk-off wild pitch…The Orioles’ nine walk-off hits came from different players (Lough, , Wieters, Clevenger, Davis, Hundley, Machado, Paredes, and Johnson).
