Environmental Clearance Application 2. PRE-FEASIBILITY REPORT 2.1 Executive Summary Smt Giddamma, has applied for quarry lease for extracting of Building stone in Sy No. 1/1(P), Siddalingapura Village, Somwarpet Taluk, Kodagu District, Karnataka over an extent of 2-20 Acres for production capacity of 10,773.4 MTPA (aggregate). Department of Mines and Geology, Kodagu has Notified the area in the name of Smt Giddamma to an extent of 2-20 Acres in Sy No. 1/1(P), Siddalingapura Village, Somwarpet Taluk , Kodagu District , Karnataka. The sketch showing the demarcated area to be granted under Quarrying Lease, is enclosed as Plate No.2. Copy of Notification is herewith attached in the Quarrying Plan. As per the statuary obligation this project needs Environmental Clearance from SEIAA Karnataka for Quarrying. Accordingly submitting 1) Form- I, 2) Pre-Feasibility Report, 3) Quarry Plan approved by District Mines and Geology, 4) Land documents, 5) Notification, 6) Statutory Clearances, 7) Survey of India Toposheet duly marking the project site. To the State Level Environment Assessment Authority of Karnataka constituted by MoEFCC, GoI for issuing Environment Clearance as per EIA September 14, 2006 Notification. 2.2 Introduction of the project/ Background information i) Identification of project and project proponent.     GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES CENTRAL GROUND WATER BOARD GROUND WATER INFORMATION BOOKLET KODAGU DISTRICT, KARNATAKA SOMVARPET KODAGU VIRAJPET SOUTH WESTERN REGION BANGALORE AUGUST 2007 FOREWORD Ground water contributes to about eighty percent of the drinking water requirements in the rural areas, fifty percent of the urban water requirements and more than fifty percent of the irrigation requirements of the nation. Central Ground Water Board has decided to bring out district level ground water information booklets highlighting the ground water scenario, its resource potential, quality aspects, recharge – discharge relationship, etc., for all the districts of the country. As part of this, Central Ground Water Board, South Western Region, Bangalore, is preparing such booklets for all the 27 districts of Karnataka state, of which six of the districts fall under farmers’ distress category. The Kodagu district Ground Water Information Booklet has been prepared based on the information available and data collected from various state and central government organisations by several hydro-scientists of Central Ground Water Board with utmost care and dedication. This booklet has been prepared by Shri M.A.Farooqi, Assistant Hydrogeologist, under the guidance of Dr. K.Md. Najeeb, Superintending Hydrogeologist, Central Ground Water Board, South Western Region, Bangalore. I take this opportunity to congratulate them for the diligent and careful compilation and observation in the form of this booklet, which will certainly serve as a guiding document for further work and help the planners, administrators, hydrogeologists and engineers to plan the water resources management in a better way in the district.
