BRINGING SCREENS ALIVE The Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute (IEICI) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to support and advance Israeli exporters and companies planning to enter the global arena. The Institute helps Israeli exporters develop business alliances and networks, as well as enhance collaborations and strategic partnerships with overseas business entities. Since its establishment in 1958, the IEICI has provided thousands of Israeli exporters with a variety of services and tools for international success. The film and television industry in Israel has begun to generate an interest around the world. Recent years have seen a growing presence of Israeli films at international film festivals, including prestigious festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival, the Berlin Film Festival, the London Film Festival, the Toronto Festival and the Venice Film Festival. The film and television sector at the Export Institute acts to advance the film and television industry in Israel by establishing national pavilions at international exhibitions around the world, and by introducing independent producers, purchase station managers and program managers worldwide to Israeli producers. In addition, the industry works with film funds such as the Rabinovich Foundation and with the country's major film festivals such as the Jerusalem Festival, the Haifa Festival and the Documentary Filmmakers Forum. www.export.gov.il Mira Geshel, Manager, Film and TV [email protected] Tel: +972-3-514-2878 | Mobile: +972-54-4578658 BRINGING SCREENS ALIVE The Foreign Trade Administration (FTA) at the Ministry of Economy and Industry manages and directs Israel's international trade policy. The FTA promotes Israel's economy through a number of avenues: initiating and overseeing trade agreements, promoting Israel's exports, and fostering robust relations between Israel and foreign industries. The FTA is divided into three main divisions, each promoting the Israeli economy in distinct and significant ways. The Trade Policy and International Agreements Division facilitates Israel's Free Trade Agreements, maintains and develops inter-governmental trade relations and addresses regulatory barriers that affect Israeli industry. The Export Promotion Division works to ensure the continued advancement of Israel's exports. The International Projects and Financing Division, the newest division in the Ministry, offers different programs that support Israeli companies in their business operations abroad. The FTA operates as the headquarters of over 43 economic and trade missions around the world. These missions are located in primary trade and commercial centers worldwide, as well as in multilateral organizations such as the WTO and the OECD. In the past few years, Israel has increased her presence in the Far East and South America by opening additional missions in these regions. Israel's economic and trade missions act as the spearhead of the Israeli government’s efforts to boost the Israeli industry in foreign markets. We work in conjunction with other units of the Ministry to attract foreign investment to Israel's domestic economy. Publication date: 28 Oct 2019 Author: Tim Westcott Director, Research and Analysis, Programming France's Banijay Group buys Endemol Shine to create European production giant Brought to you by Informa Tech France's Banijay Group buys Endemol Shine to 1 create European production giant France-based production company Banijay Group has reached agreement to acquire Endemol Shine Group from Walt Disney Company and US hedge fund Apollo Global Management. The price for the deal was not disclosed but is widely reported to be $2.2 billion. A statement from the group said the deal will be financed through a capital increase of Banijay Group and debt. On closure, subject to regulatory clearances and employee consultations. Post-closing, the combined group will be majority owned (67.1%) by LDH, the holding company controlled by Stephane Courbit's LOV Group, and Vivendi (32.9%), which invested in Banijay in 2014. The merged group said it will own almost 200 production companies in 23 territories and the rights for close to 100,000 hours of content, adding that total pro-forma revenue of the combined group is expected to be €3 billion ($3.3 billion) this year. Endemol Shine Group is jointly owned by Disney, which acquired its 50% stake as part of its acquisition of 21st Century Fox last year, and funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management. Endemol Shine has 120 production labels and owns 66,000 hours of scripted and non- scripted programming and over 4,300 registered formats. Our analysis Endemol Shine Group has been up for sale since last year, and Banijay Group appears to be have been the only potential buyer to have made an offer, despite reported interest from All3Media, RTL Group-owned Fremantle and others.
