THE TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY 10:00 AM

“We are called to welcome and assist all to the compassionate love of through the Eucharist.”

Beloved, Jesus really loves the poor and outcast. In the Word today, we see how the spirit was poured into the 70 elders. Jesus pours in his Holy Spirit to all of his disciples even if they seem to be absent. Do you re- member what the mother of Jesus said while pregnant with Jesus? God has shown the strength of his arm, he has scaƩered the proud in their conceit. God has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has liŌed up the lowly. God has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. I wrote the following back in 1998. If we empty ourselves of our material richness, then we will be empty. Then Jesus will pour out his Holy Spirit on our empƟness and ours will be the Kingdom of Heaven. A great thank you to Father Jim O’Neal! CongratulaƟons to Mike & Nora Costello/Kerrigan to be married here on Wednesday. Welcome to Father Stephen Ryan a Salesian priest from New Orleans who will preside. Have a great week with love, joy, peace… Father Ron Moses +

The Poor… but simply love them. exist. Sounds so easy, but why so rarely done? Nothing to be afraid of. Have you loved someone poor today? Jesus walks with them. Will we love some one poor tomorrow? Jesus will show us the Way, if we let him. If we love the poor… then they really won’t be poor… The poor… because Love is God live, and Love is God and believe it or not, smile and Love is Word and love. and Word is Food and hope, maybe a liƩle more than we and Food is fulfilling… who have so much more. and removes the empƟness of being poor. The poor… really not to be afraid of… Grow Strong in Your Faith With Karen Lee Eucharistic Adoration

Adoring the Eucharistic Presence of Jesus goes way back in time to the early Church and remains with us today. This beautiful devotion comes highly recommended by so many of the saints throughout the ages: St. Paul of Tarsus, St. Augustine, St. John Chrysostom, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Thomas More, St. Peter Julian Eymard, St. Clare of Assisi, St. Julianna of Cornillon, St. Rose of Lima, St. Francis de Sales, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Gemma Galgani, St. Katharine Drexel and more. So many holy men and women found adoration of the Blessed Sacrament to be the ultimate means of growing ever closer to God.

Just as Jesus invited his apostles to join him in the garden in prayer, He “Know that you will probably invites you to come and spend an hour with him while He is physically gain more by praying fifteen present in the form of the Eucharist encased in the monstrance on the minutes before the . If you have never experienced this form of worship, you will be Blessed Sacrament than by all deeply in awe. Our church is large. You will find that the closer you can the other spiritual get to the altar, the closer you will feel His presence. Don’t be a exercises of the day.” spectator, be a participant. This is an intimate experience with your Lord and Savior. Embrace the silence, inhale the fragrance of the incense, and St. Alphonsus Ligouri smell the candles burning. Breathe in, breathe out. Then simply talk to Jesus. Bare your heart and soul to Him. Then listen. He may or may not speak to you through your thoughts or feelings. If not, just be content to sit with Him in mutual love for each other. That is all He really asks of us. If you feel the urge to do something different, you can always read the Bible and reflect on it. You can pray the mysteries of the rosary, do some spiritual reading, read the Lives of the Saints and ask for inspiration, or adore God and thank Him for all He does for you. If you run out of ideas, find out what the monks do when they pray by reading the insert in today’s bulletin!
