Educational Technology Conferences Educational Technology and Education Conferences for January to June 2018, Edition #38 Prepared by Clayton R. Wright, crwr77 at gmail.com, November 13, 2017 The 38th edition of the conference list covers selected professional development opportunities that primarily focus on the use of technology in educational settings and on teaching, learning, and educational administration. Only listings until June 2018 are complete as dates, locations, or Internet addresses (URLs) were not available for a number of events held after June 2018. In order to protect the privacy of individuals, only URLs are used in the listing as this enables readers of the list to obtain event information without submitting their e-mail addresses. A significant challenge during the assembly of this list is incomplete or conflicting information on websites and the lack of a link between conference websites from one year to the next. An explanation for the content and format of the list can be found at http://newsletter.alt.ac.uk/2011/08/why- distribute-documents-in-ms-word-or-openoffice-for-an-international-audience/. A Word or an OpenOffice format is used to enable people with limited or high-cost Internet access to find a conference that is congruent with their interests or obtain conference abstracts or proceedings. Consider using the “Find” tool under Microsoft Word’s “Edit” tab or similar tab in OpenOffice to locate the name of a particular conference, association, city, or country. If you enter the country “Singapore” in the “Find” tool, all conferences that occur in Singapore will be highlighted. Or, enter the word “research” or “assessment”. (Note that key words such as “research”, “assessment” or “MOOCs” may not be present in the conference title, yet these topics could be discussed during a particular conference.) Then, “cut and paste” a list of suitable events for your colleagues. Please note that events, dates, titles, and locations may change and some events may be cancelled. Thus, CHECK the specific conference website not only for basic information, but to assure yourself that the conference is legitimate. Just as there is an increasing number of predatory or fake journals, there is also an increase in the number of conferences that are not quality-focused. Check your “gut” – if it doesn’t feel quite right, perhaps more checking is in order. Take the time to conduct your own due diligence for any events you want to attend or submit a paper to. Hobensack Olsen Associates, Inc. 4438 Herschel St. Jacksonville, FL 32210 ABSTRACT Nassau Sound is a broad, unstabilized tidal inlet located between Amelia Island and Little Talbot Island in Northeast Florida at the southern end of the Sea Island Chain. The Sound, along with Ft. George Inlet to the south, exist in a region demarcated and heavily influenced by substantial jetty installations at the Entrances to the St. Mary’s and St. John’s Rivers. Significant changes in the shape and position of the Sound have occurred over the last century, predominantly in response to the interruption of littoral supply caused by the St. Mary’s River Entrance jetties and the stabilizing influence of the north jetty at St. John’s River Entrance. In addition to the overall decrease in the sediment supply, another effect of these jettied entrances is the “backing up” of the tidal entrances as they attempt to migrate north against the direction of net littoral drift. These changes have placed increasing erosional pressure on the southern end of Amelia Island, prompting coastal engineering action to protect valuable resources along a State Park and adjacent privately held lands. INTRODUCTION Nassau Sound separates Nassau County and Duval County in Northeast Florida at the mouth of the Amelia and Nassau Rivers (Figure 1). Amelia Island to the north extends almost 14 miles to St. Mary’s Entrance at the Florida/Georgia border.

The meta-analysis described in this paper evaluated the relationships between 11 types of leadership practices and 7 organizational, teaming, leader, and employee outcomes. A main focus of analysis was whether the leadership practices were differentially related to the study outcomes. Studies were eligible for inclusion if the correlations between leadership subscale measures (rather than global measures of leadership) and outcomes of interest were reported. The random effects weighted average correlations between the independent and dependent measures were used as the sizes of effects for evaluating the influences of the leadership practices on the outcome measures. One hundred and twelve studies met the inclusion criteria and included 39,433 participants. The studies were conducted in 31 countries in different kinds of programs, organizations, companies, and businesses.

    APPENDIX A: HISTORIC CONTEXT AND REFERENCES FROM THE HISTORIC PROPERTIES RESURVEY, CITY OF FERNANDINA BEACH, NASSAU COUNTY, FLORIDA, BLAND AND ASSOCIATES, INC. 2007 Colonial Period, 1565-1821 Founded in the early nineteenth century and incorporated in 1824, Fernandina Beach is one of Florida's oldest cities. The principal city of Nassau County, Fernandina Beach is located on the north end of Amelia Island, which has a colonial heritage associated with early French explorers, the First Spanish period, the British period, and the Second Spanish period. Early French explorers named the island "Isle de Mai" and Pedro Menendez built a fort there in 1567. In 1598 and 1675, Spanish missions built on the island contributed to a larger system implemented by the Spanish Crown to convert the Indians to Catholicism. In 1702, an English incursion from Charleston, South Carolina, attacked St. Augustine, but also invaded an outpost on the island and threatened the missions. Later, in 1735, when James Oglethorpe attempted to secure the St. Marys River as the southern boundary of his new colony, the Georgian scouted the island, which he named Amelia for one of King George II's daughters (Johannes 2000:3-4). Between 1513 and 1763, Spain failed to settle permanently any area of Florida except the immediate environs of St. Augustine. Besides establishing a permanent base at the port city and a chain of missions into the interior, the Spanish accomplished little of lasting significance. Farmers and ranchers cleared land for cattle, and planted crops and fruit trees. But, the growth of English colonies to the north in the 1700s and forays by settlers and militia into Florida destabilized Spain's nascent agricultural economy and mission system.
