Page 6 ISSUE 90, July, 2017 The Community Connectors project - a new way to ‘get connected’ Community Connectors are volunteers who can help members of our community become connected with other people, groups, clubs and organisations within their local area. Being connected to the community can improve well- being and make people feel good about the community they live in. Starting a new activity can be daunting; - Finding out about what’s happening in their area can be difficult. - Going to a new group on your own can be intimidating. - Sometimes getting motivated to go to something new can be a challenge; sometimes we just need some en- couragement to give it a go! A number of volunteers from Seawinds have recently completed training as Community Connectors and are already ‘up and at it’, talking to people, offering a hand and providing information and support. “Community Connectors” forms part of the “Strengthening Seniors’ Inclusion and Participation in Local Communities (SSIP)” State Government funded project. It is being led by Mornington Peninsula Shire and Frankston City Council in partnership with a number of locally based organisations. For more information about the project, call Michelle on 5950 1774, or email on [email protected]
