Particiants of Judo, Wrestling, Taekwondo and Athletics are getting ready for 2019.

The strategic sports will be fundamental in the Cuban participation during the next of Lima 2019, in which our delegation aspires to fulfill the difficult goal of placing itself among the first four places of the overall medal table.

During the press´ preparation course, which is traditionally held as a prelude to each multisport event, the commissioners of some of the most important disciplines came to give their forecasts for the most important event of the year.

In judo, Rafael Manso gave as possible expectation a total of four medals, which are expected to be the result of the work on the tatami of the multi-champion Idalys Ortiz (+78 kg) and his companion Maylín del Toro (63 kg), also by Iván Silva (90 kg) and Osniel Solís (66 kg).

Wrestling is another one of the heavy hitters regarding individual competitions.The participants ratified their commitment with the goal of attaining at least seven titles, distributed of the following form: three in the greco- roman and in the masculine free, plus another one in the feminine free. Luis de la Portilla, commissioner of this sport, referred to the important role of figures such as the three-time Olympic champion Mijaín López, who represents a great example and inspiration for the rest of his colleagues, especially the youngest ones.

During her talk, Yipsi Moreno, in charge of athletics, talked about the possibilities for her boys and girls regarding multiple games.

The former athlete and Olympic champion of 2008 explained that the main hopes of the track and field team are in the (F), with Denia Caballero and Yaimé Pérez, the long jump (M), in which Juan Miguel Hechevarría is favorite, and Yorgelis Rodríguez, current queen of the heptathlon.

Yipsi also spoke of Yarisley Silva (pole vault) and Yordan Díaz (triple jump) as two other competitors who, although they do not appear as clear contenders for gold, may surprise reaching the top of the podium as well.

In addition, it was learned that taekwondo team has aspirations of a pair of gold medals, counting on the double world champion (2013 and 2019) Rafael Alba (+87 kg), in addition to another that could depend on the win of one of his teammates.
