Chief Ministers of India Chief Ministers of India The Chief Ministers of India are the heads of their respective state governments. There are Chief Ministers in India in every one of the twenty-nine states and even in two Union Territories (Delhi and Puducherry). Following elections to the state legislative assembly, the governor usually invites the party (or coalition) with a majority of seats to form the government in the state. He suggested that we should meet other members of the GST Council in this regard so that the issue gets some momentum.
