Many of the authors capture an authentic Chinese storytelling style to their presentation that really flavors the narratives. The level of varies from tale to tale; some are heavily steeped in tech while others are much more minimalist and focus more on the characters. My only complaint is that most of the writers took inspiration from the Manchurian period, so in stories of east and west the east is usually shown as weaker. I would've liked a bolder vision of a steampunk at its zenith rather than nadir.
