Prayers, Poems, & Biblical Verses 2019 I thought of you with love today, Religious If tears could build a stairway, but that is nothing new. Poems and memories a lane. I thought about you yesterday, I would walk right up to Heaven and days before that too. Life is just a stepping stone and bring you back again. I think of you in silence, to a much better place. No farewell words were spoken, I often speak your name. Where there’s no pain or sorrow, No time to say “Goodbye". All I have are memories or tears on any face. You were gone before I knew it, and your picture in a frame. And though we miss the dear ones and only God knows why. Your memory is my keepsake who step beyond our sight, My heart still aches with sadness, with which I’ll never part. we know God walks beside them and secret tears still flow. God has you in His keeping, as He guides them toward the light. What it meant to love you - I have you in my heart. No one can ever know. Fisherman's Prayer But now I know you want me The Fisherman to mourn for you no more; God grant that I may live to fish To remember all the happy times Surely Jesus loves fishermen until my dying day, life still has much in store. for He chose them for His own, and when it comes to my last cast Since you'll never be forgotten, To be with Him and learn from Him I then must humbly pray. I pledge to you today, and someday share His home. The Day God Called You Home God Saw… God looked around His garden Ascension God saw that she was getting tired, And found an empty place. And if I go, And a cure was not to be, He then looked down upon the earth while you're still here... So He put His arms around her, And saw your tired face. Know that I live on, And whispered... He put His arms around you vibrating to a different measure- "Come with Me." And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful - behind a thin veil you cannot see With tearful eyes we watched her suffer, He always takes the best. through. And saw her fade away. He knew that you were suffering, You will not see me, Although we loved her dearly, He knew you were in pain, so you must have faith. We could not make her stay. I wait for the time when we can soar He knew that you would never together again, A golden heart stopped beating, Get well on earth again. -both aware of each other. Hard working hands now rest; He saw the road was getting rough Until then, live your life to its fullest. God broke our hearts to prove to us And the hills were hard to climb, And when you need me, He only takes the best. So He closed your weary eyelids just whisper my name in your heart, And whispered "Peace be thine." ...I will be there. It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn't go alone, Beyond Life’s Gateway For part of us went with you The day God called you home. Face to Face There's an open gate at the end of the road, All who believe in through which each must go alone. God's mercy and grace And there in a light we cannot see, Will meet their loved ones Our Father claims His own. On Eagles Wings face to face Beyond the gate, your loved one Where time is endless finds happiness and rest. And He will raise you up and joy unbroken And there is comfort in the thought, on eagle's wings, And only the words That a loving God knows best. Bear you on the breath of dawn, of God's love are spoken. Make you to shine like the sun, And hold you in the palm of His hand. I'm off to follow another trail And you know how I love to roam. But I know full well at the end of this trail I'll find my eternal home. By Kirby Haskell Footprints The Life That Was Ours One night I had a dream. It’s four in the morning and I’m alone in my bed. I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. I woke from a deep sleep with these words in my head. “I sure miss you, Honey, since you’re not here with me, Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. But I know you’re with God and that’s where you should be” For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: I still love you and need you and know there’ll be tears, one belonging to me, and the other to the Lord. When I think of the good times we’ve shared all these years, When the last scene of my life flashed before me, I can still hear your laughter, I can still see your smile. I looked back at the footprints in the sand. And sometimes comes a memory, so you’re here for awhile. I’ll never regret the time God allowed us to share. I noticed that many times along the path of my life, You brought light to my darkness and made hope from despair. there was only one set of footprints. I believe that one day we’ll be united again, I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest, Because on earth are the ending but in heaven are “begins”. and saddest times of my life. Remember, Honey, I love you and although you’re not here, This really bothered me I will celebrate the life that was ours through the years. In time I will see you, but until that day comes, and I questioned the Lord about it: My life’s a reflection of the times we were one. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, “A soul united in love will never die. you'd walk with me all the way. It is an eternal bond of God’s love” But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most, The Rose Beyond the Wall you would leave me.” A rose once grew where all could see, The Lord replied: Sheltered beside a garden wall. “My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. And, as the days passed swiftly by, During your times of trial and suffering, It spread its branches, straight and tall. when you see only one set of footprints, One day, a beam of light shone through it was then that I carried you.” A crevice that had opened wide. The Broken Chain The rose bent gently toward its warmth Then passed beyond to the other side. God's Garden We little knew that morning, God was going to call your name. Now, you who deeply feel its loss, God looked around His garden In life we loved you dearly, Be comforted - the rose blooms there. and found an empty place. In death we do the same. Its beauty even greater now, He then looked down upon the earth, Nurtured by God's own loving care. and saw your tired face. It broke our hearts to lose you. ~A.L. Frank He put His arms around you You did not go alone. and lifted you to rest. for part of us went with you, God's garden must be beautiful the day God called you home. He always takes the best. The Garden of Promise He knew that you were suffering, You left us beautiful memories. He knew you were in pain Your love is still our guide. There is a place, I have been told, He knew that you would never And although we cannot see you, Beyond an open gate get well on earth again. you are always by our side. All have been invited He saw the road was getting rough, Where friends and loved ones wait and the hills were hard to climb, Our family chain is broken, so He closed your weary eyelids and nothing seems the same, It holds eternal promise and whispered "Peace be Thine." but as God calls us one by one, Of everlasting peace It broke our hearts to lose you the chain will link again. No pain or sorrow ever comes But you didn't go alone. And teardrops there have ceased For part of us went with you Abundant life is evident The day God called you home. Gone But Not Forgotten Constant, fresh and new A precious one from us has gone, A garden of provision A voice we loved is stilled, With eternity in view A place is vacant in our home The promise is awaiting Which never can be filled. A place we can abide God in His wisdom has recalled, Fulfilled for all who answer The boon His love had given The call to come inside And though the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in Heaven.

Tixier1, N. Gasco2, G. Duhamel2, M. Viviant1, M. Authier1 and C. Guinet1 1 Centre d’Etudes Biologiques de Chizé CNRS, UPR 1934 Villiers-en-Bois, 79360 France Email – [email protected] 2 MNHN Paris, 75005 France Abstract Within the Crozet Islands Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), the Patagonian toothfish (Dissostichus eleginoides) longline fishery is exposed to high levels of depredation by killer (Orcinus orca) and sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus). From 2003 to 2008, sperm whales alone, killer whales alone, and the two species co-occurring were observed on 32.6%, 18.6% and 23.4% respectively of the 4 289 hauled lines. It was estimated that a total of 571 tonnes (€4.8 million) of Patagonian toothfish were lost due to depredation by killer whales and both killer and sperm whales. Killer whales were found to be responsible for the largest part of this loss (>75%), while sperm whales had a lower impact (>25%). Photo-identification data revealed 35 killer whales belonging to four different pods were involved in 81.3% of the interactions. Significant variations of interaction rates with killer whales were detected between vessels suggesting the influence of operational factors on depredation. When killer whales were absent at the beginning of the line hauling process, short lines (<5 000 m) provided higher yield and were significantly less impacted by depredation than longer lines.

The winged fairies of Grimm and Andersen have brought more happiness to childish hearts than all other human creations. Yet the old time fairy tale, having served for generations, may now be classed as "historical" in the children's library; for the time has come for a series of newer "wonder tales" in which the stereotyped genie, dwarf and fairy are eliminated, together with all the horrible and blood-curdling incidents devised by their authors to point a fearsome moral to each tale.
