La connaissance de la biodiversité sur l’Est Cantal un enjeu pour le développement du territoire ! Depuis avril 2017, le SYTEC s’est engagé dans une démarche d’Atlas de la Biodiversité Territoriale, avec l’objectif d’une part, de mieux connaitre la biodiversité du territoire et, d’autre part, d’intégrer les enjeux connus dans les démarches de planification notamment. Dans ce cadre, un ensemble de données naturalistes sur les territoires de l’Est Cantal ont pu être collectées auprès de nombreuses structures (Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, collectivités, associations, naturalistes professionnels…). Des inventaires sont également confiés chaque année par le SYTEC à des structures professionnelles pour compléter les connaissances sur des secteurs mal connus. En complément, des enquêtes participatives, qui rencontrent un vif succès, ont été lancées à destination du grand public, particulièrement des habitants des territoires. Ce travail de collecte a permis de réunir plus d’un million de données depuis le début de la démarche. A la fin de l’année 2018, ce sont 2505 espèces qui ont été répertoriés sur le territoire depuis 10 ans pour la faune (1017 espèces) et au cours de ces 15 dernières années pour la flore, les champignons et les algues (respectivement 1359, 31 et 98 espèces recensés). Parmi elles, 303 espèces sont considérées comme des espèces à enjeux en termes de préservation. Les inventaires se sont poursuivis en 2019 et continueront en 2020, permettant une mise à jour annuelle des connaissances de l’Est Cantal. Afin de partager -

The list comprises 116 species of Noctuidae (26.4% of the Polish fauna), 116 species of Geometridae (28.4% of the Polish fauna) and 63 species of other Macrolepidoptera representatives (27.9% of the Polish fauna). The remaining 123 species were represented by Microlepidoptera. Nearly 10% of the species were associated with wetland habitats, what constitutes a surprisingly large proportion in such an urbanised area. Comparing the obtained data with previous studies concerning Polish urban fauna of Lepidoptera, the moths assemblages in the Botanical Garden were the most similar to the one from the Natolin Forest Reserve which protects the legacy of Mazovian forests. Several recorded moths appertain to locally and rarely encountered species, as Stegania cararia, Melanthia procellata, Pasiphila chloerata, Eupithecia haworthiata, Horisme corticata, Xylomoia graminea, Polychrysia moneta. In the light of the conducted studies, the Botanical Garden in Lublin stands out as quite high biodiversity and can be regarded as a refuge for moths within the urban limits of Lublin. -

Nat. Croat., Vol. 30, No. 1, 37–52, 2021, Zagreb. From 2016 to 2020 numerous surveys were undertaken to improve the knowledge of the pyraloid moth fauna of Biokovo Nature Park. On August 27th, 2020 one specimen of Psorosa mediterranella (Amsel, 1954) from the family Pyralidae was collected on a small meadow (985 m a.s.l.) on Mt Biok- ovo. In this paper, the first data about the occurrence of this species in Croatia are presented. The previ- ous mention in the literature for Croatia was considered to be a misidentification of the past and has thus not been included in the checklist of Croatian pyraloid moth species. P. mediterranella was recorded for the first time in Croatia in recent investigations and, after other additions to the checklist have been counted, is the 396th species in the Croatian pyraloid moth fauna. An overview of the overall pyraloid moth fauna of Croatia is given in the updated species list. 2018 Bioblitz Report
Bioblitz 2018: 942 species recorded. Wow! The Kingston Field Naturalists held their 20th BioBlitz June 15-16th, 2018 on our own property, the Helen Quilliam Sanctuary, at Otter Lake. This 250 hectare nature reserve has a wide variety of habitats providing a good diversity of plant and animal life. The BioBlitz aims to list as many species of living things as possible in 24 hours. This snapshot of the biodiversity provides a baseline for observing future changes caused by global warming, invasive species and loss of endangered species as well as through natural succession. To the fauna of Pyralid and Crambid moths (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae, Crambidae) of Rostov-on-Don Province. SUMMARY. Since 1978, during day- and night-time moth monitoring in Rostov-on-Don Province, 5397 ex. of 137 species Pyralidae and Crambidae were collected in 36 localities. Preliminary studies of S.N. Alpheraky [Алфера- ки, 1876] represented 63 species. The total list now includes 157 species of both families. Two species of Pyralidae (Phycitinae), Pempelia amoenella (Zeller, 1848) and Metallosticha argyrogrammos (Zeller, 1847), re reported from Russia for the first time. The most common and mass species are: Nomophila noctuella ([Den. & Schiff.]), Etiella zinckenella (Tr.), Aporodes floralis (Hb.), Euchromius ocellea (Hw.), Actenia brunnealis (Tr.), Homoeosoma nimbella (Dup.), Mecyna flavalis ([Den. & Schiff.]), Synaphe moldavica (Esp.), Pediasia luteella ([Den. & Schiff.]), Lamoria anella ([Den. & Schiff.]), Endotricha flammealis ([Den. & Schiff.]), Parapoynx stratiotata (L.), Hypsopygia costalis (F.), Calamotropha paludella (Hb.), Thisanotia chrysonuchella (Scop.), Agriphila tristella ([Den. & Schiff.]). Введение Для Ростовской области известен единственный список огнёвок, включающий 63 вида [Ал- фераки, 1876], причем часть указаний нуждается в уточнении. Особую актуальность изучение региональной фауны огнёвок имеет в связи с тем, что эта группа представляет весомую часть биоразнообразия, включает значительное число угрожаемых видов и индикаторов малонару- шенных природных комплексов [Большаков, 1999]. -

Le Ru5,6, Desmond Conlong7,8, Kevin Powell 9, Andrew Ward10 & Andrew Mitchell1 Lepidopteran stemborers are among the most damaging agricultural pests worldwide, able to reduce crop yields by up to 40%. Sugarcane is the world’s most prolifc crop, and several stemborer species from the families Noctuidae, Tortricidae, Crambidae and Pyralidae attack sugarcane. Australia is currently free of the most damaging stemborers, but biosecurity eforts are hampered by the difculty in morphologically distinguishing stemborer species. Here we assess the utility of DNA barcoding in identifying stemborer pest species. We review the current state of the COI barcode sequence library for sugarcane stemborers, assembling a dataset of 1297 sequences from 64 species. Sequences were from specimens collected and identifed in this study, downloaded from BOLD or requested from other authors. We performed species delimitation analyses to assess species diversity and the efectiveness of barcoding in this group. Seven species exhibited <0.03 K2P interspecifc diversity, indicating that diagnostic barcoding will work well in most of the studied taxa. We identifed 24 instances of identifcation errors in the online database, which has hampered unambiguous stemborer identifcation using barcodes. Instances of very high within-species diversity indicate that nuclear markers (e.g. 18S, 28S) and additional morphological data (genitalia dissection of all lineages) are needed to confrm species boundaries. -

A total of 173 species is reported here, comprising 97 Crambidae and 76 Pyralidae. Based upon published data, 29 species appear to be new to the fauna of Serbia, 5 species are new to the fauna of Macedonia and 37 are new to the fauna of Albania. The data are discussed. It is open with few trees, and the vegetation is dominated by dwarf-shrubs growing on nutrient-poor soils. Dry heaths with Heather Calluna vulgaris and wet heaths with Bell Heather Erica tetralix are common vegetation communities in the heathland, and they often form mosaics. The heathland landscape is highly threatened, with large substantial areal losses of 95% in Sweden since the 1800s. Heathland supports around 200 red-listed species, including plants, insects, birds and reptiles. -
