Featuring a mix of rock, jazz, Motown and funk, the Fifth Third Bank Summer Concerts at Meijer Gardens will include Diana Krall, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and a co-bill of The Beach Boys & The Temptations. The complete lineup will be announced in mid-April. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue June 21 New Orleans native Trombone Shorty began his career as a bandleader at the young age of six, toured internationally at age 12, and spent his teens playing with various brass bands throughout New Orleans and touring worldwide with Lenny Kravitz. In 2010, Trombone Shorty released his debut album, the Grammy- nominated "Backatown," followed by "For True" in 2011, which topped Billboard magazine's Contemporary Jazz Chart for 12 weeks. His most recent album, "Say That to This," was released in 2013 and features funk/jazz elements of New Orleans. In 2012, he performed at the White House in honor of Black History Month with music royalty such as B.B. King, Mick Jagger, Jeff Beck and Booker T. Jones. The Beach Boys & The Temptations July 31 Debuting more than 50 years ago, The Beach Boys are one of the most iconic American rock ‘n roll bands of all time with hits like, “Surfin’ USA,” “Good Vibrations” and “Kokomo.” Their accolades range from being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and honored at the 2001 Grammy Awards to receiving The Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy. The Temptations have propelled popular music with a series of smash hits and sold-out performances throughout the world. An essential component of Barry Gordy’s original Motown machine, The Temptations began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn’t until 1964, however, that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced “The Way You Do the Things You Do” turned them into stars. An avalanche of hits followed, many of which, attained immortality, such as “My Girl.” Their greatest hits include, “It’s Growing”, “Since I Lost My Baby”, “Get Ready”, “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”, “Beauty Is only Skin Deep” and “I Wish It Would Rain.” Diana Krall August 3 By any standard this five-time Grammy winning jazz pianist and vocalist is one of the most accomplished and distinctive musicians in the world today. Respected far and wide as a wildly successful recording and performing artist, Krall remains a true musical force. At any given moment she could be producing Barbra Streisand’s new Page 2 – SNEAK PEEK AT 2015 OUTDOOR SUMMER CONCERT SERIES album, serving as musical director and arranger for Paul McCartney or hitting the road for a good cause with Neil Young. As the record shows, Diana Krall has already done all that and much more. Along the way Krall has sold more albums than any other female jazz artist of the last 30 years, establishing herself as one of the best-selling and most beloved performers of her generation, one whose recordings thus far have earned her nine gold, three platinum and seven multi-platinum albums. Her 12th studio album, “Wallflower,” was released on February 3rd. Members of Meijer Gardens will be able to purchase tickets during a members-only presale, April 25 through May 8.
