Perfil de la feria Pet Fair Asia es la mayor feria de productos para mascotas del mundo y un importante hub internacional de esta industria. El evento se enfoca principalmente en los mercados asiáticos y trata de cubrir ampliamente las necesidades de la industria y su cadena de suministro. Descripción y evolución de la feria 2.1.1. Expositores La vigésimo tercera edición de PET FAIR ha atraído a más de 2.000 expositores provenientes, en su mayoría, de la región Asia Pacífico, aunque también ha habido presencia de marcas europeas y americanas. Este año, varias de las empresas participantes han optado por dedicar parte de su espacio en los pabellones feriales para presentar sus productos a través de online live streaming, otorgando a aquellas personas que no han podido visitar la feria la posibilidad de conocer sus productos. Participación española En esta edición de PET FAIR no se contó con participación española, siendo un sector en alza en el mercado chino, es interesante tener en cuenta este evento como punto de partida de empresas españolas que quieran explorar oportunidades. RETRANSMISIÓN EN DIRECTO DESDE LOS PABELLONES EN PET FAIR Fuente: Visita PET FAIR 2020 7 Oficina Económica y Comercial de la Embajada de España en Shanghái IF PET FAIR ASIA 2020 2.1.2. Visitantes Este año acudieron a visitar PET FAIR más de 300.000 visitantes, 80.000 de ellos profesionales del sector, unos números muy parecidos a los de la anterior edición de la feria celebrada en 2019. El número de visitantes internacionales fue muy reducido, posiblemente debido a las restricciones de viajes internacionales impuestas por China y otros países. Durante la exposición, PETFAIR creó un canal de match-making online, este medio sirvió para conectar empresas tanto internacionales como nacionales con posibles socios o compradores. Este tipo de iniciativas tienen gran importancia dada la situación de crisis sanitaria actual que dificultan los viajes. Tendencias y novedades presentadas 3.1. Tendencias del mercado El número de perros y gatos como mascotas en las ciudades chinas ha aumentado un 8,4% en el año 2019 y el consumo de productos y servicios asociados a estas alcanzó los 200 mil millones de RMB (24.475 millones de euros) durante el mismo período. Las ventas online de productos para mascotas superaron los 30 mil millones de RMB (3.670 millones de euros), el 70% proveniente de compras en los grandes portales e-commerce chinos. 3.2. Productos cosméticos También por el estilo de vida en las ciudades de China, donde la gran mayoría de la población vive en apartamentos, hay una tendencia creciente en el sector de las peluquerías y de los productos cosméticos para animales, para mantener la higiene del animal y de la casa, aparecen por esto numerosos servicios de peluquería y lavado, tanto a domicilio como en tienda. Se presentaron en la feria novedades en cuanto a productos y a maquinaría para peluquerías como secadores y estaciones de lavado. También se encontraron empresas destinadas a la limpieza de hogares con mascota, con productos y servicios especializados en deshacerse de pelos y olores no deseados. Valor del diseño Las empresas que ofrecen tanto productos de consumo como de alimentación en el mercado chino apuestan fuertemente por el valor del diseño como elemento diferenciador en un mercado competitivo y sofisticado como es. Desde los cuidados acabados de los juguetes y accesorios, huyendo del aspecto de producto barato, hasta los grafismos de los envases, todos estos detalles muestran la necesidad de atraer al consumidor de manera visual y de que el producto no desentone con la decoración de la casa, por ejemplo. Productos inteligentes Dado el complicado estilo de vida en las grandes ciudades chinas, con apartamentos de reducido tamaño y largas jornadas laborales, también proliferan los productos smart o inteligentes que interactúan con el animal, se pudieron encontrar en la feria productos como juguetes automáticos, comederos/bebederos que mantienen la comida fresca y dispensan las raciones necesarias, rastreadores GPS o areneros para gatos que se mantienen limpios.     International Journal of Communication 5 (2011), 406–436 1932–8036/20110406 New Media Practices in China: Youth Patterns, Processes, and Politics CARA WALLIS Texas A&M University This article examines the dynamics of new media in China with an emphasis on youth uses and practices. While much attention has been devoted to the government’s regime of censorship and control, this review takes a cultural approach, drawing from a range of academic and popular sources to examine how various practices, discourses, relationships, and representations have been articulated to new media technologies in China. After providing background on China’s demographic and telecommunications landscape, the discussion covers networked community and identity, gaming, networked public sphere and civic engagement, and new media prosumption. The review shows that diverse new media practices emerge in China within the tensions and contradictions of the government’s desire to simultaneously expand new media technologies and control what are perceived as “harmful” influences. Within a highly commercialized and more liberalized sociocultural environment, new media technologies have opened up new spaces for multiple modes of expression, and as such, they are constitutive of complex processes of social change in China. In early 2008, scandalous photos of Hong Kong star Edison Chen, posing with various actresses, flooded the Chinese Internet. Labeled “sexy photo gate,” it was followed in March by “text-message gate,” when a deluge of spam SMS flooded the inboxes of millions of China’s mobile phone customers. Preceding and following these incidents have been numerous “gates,” involving everything from a photo-shopped picture of a rare tiger, to tainted food products, to compromised news anchors, to promiscuous Chinese teenagers.

  • My Trip to the People's Republic of China
    MY TRIP TO CHINA My trip to the People’s Republic of China initially had a two-fold purpose: to see the Great Wall near Beijing and the Terracotta Warriors of ancient Xian. Beyond that, I must confess, I was woefully ignorant of Chinese history and culture and wasn’t really sure what I would be witnessing on my journey to the Middle Kingdom. I chose a guided tour for this very reason, so I wouldn’t have to prepare my own itinerary. Having now concluded the trip, I can honestly say all my preconceived notions concerning the Chinese were wrong. What I encountered, instead, was a remarkably industrious country (albeit with some monumental pollution problems), a land mass about as big as the continental United States (and just as diverse), incredible scenes of natural beauty (especially in the southern regions) and an ambitious government-driven zeal to modernize and propel its citizenry forward. A cultural discovery, if you will. My tour vastly exceeded my expectations, and hopefully this journal will bear witness to that. My trip took root back in October 2010, two months after returning from a tour of Egypt. Although I enjoyed my Egyptian adventure immensely, the August timing was a bit brutal in terms of the weather and I vowed never to take another vacation that late in the summer. I had just read an article about the Terracotta Warriors in some historical publication and decided to check out the various tour companies specializing in Chinese travel, to see if it would be more feasible to go in early spring.

She was co-listed as the “10 of the Most Inspiring Feminists of 2015” by MS Magazine in the US. She is also a psychology counselor, writer, documentary producer and director. The documentary We Are Here she produced was screened in many countries. Xueqin (SoPhie) Huang was born in 1988in Shaoguang, Gangdong province. She graduated from Jinan University. She used to work as a journalist for a national news agency and progressive newspaper. She is freelancing now, writing for Southern Metropolis Weekly, The Livings, The Initium Media and NGOCN. Her reporting focuses on democracy development, civil society and the rights of disadvantaged groups in China. She published a report on workplace sexual harassment of Chinese female journalists in 2017, which ignited and promoted #Metoo movement in China.
