21st TSC commanding general nominated for appointment to Major General Jan. 24, 2011 By U.S. Army Europe Public Affairs The president nominated Brig. Gen. Aundre F. Piggee for appointment to the rank of major general, the Defense Department announced Jan. 23. HEIDELBERG, Germany -- The president nominated the Commander of the 21st Theater Social Media Sustainment Command for appointment to the rank of major general, the Defense Facebook Department announced yesterday. Twitter Brig. Gen. Aundre F. Piggee, a native of Stamps, Ark., assumed command of the 21st Flickr TSC, located in Kaiserslautern, Germany, Aug. 25, 2011. YouTube A graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Piggee served in Germany from January 1986 to April 1988 as Direct Support Maintenance Officer and Commander of the 77th Maintenance Company, both in the 85th Maintenance Battalion, V Corps, respectively. His previous duty assignments include plans officer, G3, 13th Corps Support Command, III Corps, Fort Hood, Texas, in 1994-’95. His deployments were as commander of the 15th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas during Operation Joint Forge, Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1998-2000 and Commander of the 15th Sustainment Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq between June 2005 and February 2008. Piggee served as deputy assistant chief of staff, C4 and assistant chief of staff, J4, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/United States Forces Korea from September 2009 to August 2011 before assuming command of the 21st TSC. Downs, chaplain, 1st Cavalry Division Resolute Support Sustainment Brigade (1CD RSSB), hosted a prayer breakfast at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, April 26. This is the last prayer breakfast before the 1CD RSSB ends its deployment. Fittingly, the theme for the event was “Change of Mission, Stay on Mission.” Downs spoke about how changes, good and bad, are inevitable in life, and as the Soldiers of 1CD RSSB return home, to stay grounded as life may throw some curveballs their way. “In a world that is constantly chang- ing, there is one rock-solid thing that does not,” said Downs. “Faith, doing the right things for the right reasons, does not change.” Downs said that as our mission changes, to stay anchored in an un- changing God. Extensions are given and filing help is available here until May 15. “All deployed servicemembers automatically have a 180 day extension to file their taxes,” said Sgt. Bethany Becker of Hutto, Texas, the legal as- sistance noncommissioned officer in charge, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary). “The 180 days starts when they redeploy.” There is also filing assistance for servicemem- bers on Anaconda, much like on any active duty Army base in the States. The consolidated legal center, located at building 9103, can help service- members prepare forms 1040a and 1040EZ. “We offer electronic filing of federal and state taxes,” Becker said. “If servicemembers have any other tax issues, I will do my best to help or find someone who can help them.” Assistance at the tax center is free, and if ser- vicemembers file their taxes using the E-file pro- gram, they can receive their refund in as little as 10 days, Becker said.

Rear Admiral Charles W. Brown Navy Chief of Information Rear Adm. Charles W. Brown was born and raised on Long Island, New York, and he is a 1994 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Brown holds a master's in Mass Communication and Media Studies from San Diego State University, and he is the first flag officer and senior active duty public affairs officer accredited in public relations and military communication. During more than 20 years as a public affairs officer (PAO), Brown has served as the fleet PAO for both U.S. Pacific Fleet and U.S. Third Fleet, the special assistant (Public Affairs) to the Chief of Naval Operations, the force PAO for U.S. Naval Air Forces, and the aircraft carrier and battle group PAO for USS Constellation (CV 64) and Cruiser Destroyer Group One. Brown has also served as deputy PAO for U.S. Fifth Fleet/U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, deputy PAO for Naval Surface Forces, and fleet media officer at U.S. Fleet Forces Command.
