This year’s spectacular edition will feature some of the biggest and brightest names in comedy, including stand-up, writer and person Demetri Martin; the supremely funny and fluffy Gabriel Iglesias; Canadian comedy legend Mike MacDonald; Funny as Hell host Jon Dore; master of the mic and stage Dom Irrera along with fellow JFL funnymen (and woman) Godfrey, Graham Chittenden, Lynne Koplitz, Martin Moreno, Levi MacDougall and Todd Glass. With three different line-ups heading out across the country, we’re bringing the best headliners to a city near you and making Canada the funniest place to be. See below for line-ups and details: Western Canada Starring Demetri Martin and featuring Levi MacDougall, Todd Glass and special guest Jon Dore Demetri Martin He is: a stand-up comedian, writer and actor. He has worked in television, stage, film and print. Some of the things he’s done: he was a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He was a staff writer at Late Night with Conan O’Brien. He released a stand-up comedy album called These Are Jokes. He made an hour-long stand-up special for Comedy Central called Demetri Martin. Person. He created and starred in a television series for Comedy Central called Important Things with Demetri Martin. He starred in the Ang Lee film Taking Woodstock. He’s an author: he wrote a book called This is a Book by Demetri Martin, which was a New York Times Bestseller. His last stand-up comedy album & DVD, Demetri Martin. Jon Dore He is one to watch: named one of “10 comics to watch” by Variety, Ottawa-born comedian, host and actor Jon Dore is renowned for his offbeat humour and unique bait-and-switch style. His humble beginnings: was the co-host of the cable talk show Daytime Ottawa (Rogers Television) and the irreverent roving reporter on Canadian Idol (CTV). He’s on TV and is a host: he recently starred in the critically acclaimed ABC TV series How to Live with Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life) opposite Sarah Chalke, Elizabeth Perkins and Brad Garrett and is the host of HBO Canada’s Funny as Hell, a series showcasing bold and uncensored comedy from the fastest rising comedians at the Just For Laughs Festival, currently shooting its fourth season. His fun fact: had the honour of being the first stand-up to appear on Conan (The Comedy Network). Levi MacDougall He’s Canadian (like us!): he got his start at the Loose Moose Theatre Company in Calgary and then moved to Toronto to begin talking and performing comedy. He wins stuff: his hour-long stand-up special won two Canadian Comedy Awards (in Canada) and he wrote for and appeared in Important Things with Demetri Martin (in America). He’s cool: The New York Times Magazine named him one of the Best Alternative Comics (alongside Andy Kindler and Maria Bamford) and he’s been called “one of Canada’s finest young comics” by Time Out New York. He’s on TV and in films: He’s also appeared in The Jon Dore Television Show, Hotbox, the Just For Laughs Festival and the upcoming feature film Dean. Todd Glass He’s a veteran: he’s a Philadelphia native who has been working in the industry since the age of 16. He’s hit the road: has toured with comedians such as David Cross, Louis CK, David Spade, Daniel Tosh, Jim Gaffigan, and Sarah Silverman. He’s been on TV and stuff: he has appeared on TV shows such as Louie, The Sarah Silverman Program, Tosh.O, Conan, as well as an outstanding 13 appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live, in addition to his own half-hour stand-up special on Comedy Central. Ontario Starring Gabriel Iglesias and featuring Martin Moreno, Godfrey and special guest Dom Irrera Gabriel Iglesias He works hard: the youngest of six children and raised by a single mother, he is one of America’s most successful stand-up comedians and performs in sold-out concerts across the United States and internationally. His comedy style: is a mixture of storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects that bring his personal experiences to life. His unique and animated comedy style has made him popular among fans of all ages. He’s in movies: starred in Magic Mike, The Nut Job and his highly anticipated stand-up comedy film, The Fluffy Movie (Open Road Films) was released in July. In October 2014, he will appear in 20th Century Fox’s animated film The Book of Life alongside Zoe Saldana and Channing Tatum. He will also begin production shortly on the much anticipated sequel to the box office hit Magic Mike, reprising his role as Tobias with Matthew McConaughey and Channing Tatum. Magic Mike XXL will be released in July 2015. In a word: fluffy. Martin Moreno He’s a late bloomer: his comedy career began when he was in his early 30’s and by that time he had a freakishly funny point of view on his life. He’s been in specials and stuff: was featured on Gabriel Iglesias' multi-platinum selling DVDs Hot and Fluffy and I'm Not Fat I'm Fluffy, and was part of the nationwide comedy tour He’s a host: can be seen as the co-host of Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand-Up Revolution on Comedy Central currently in its 3rd season. Dom Irrera He’s a veteran: a favourite at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, he has appeared at the festival 17 times. People like him: was nominated six times for an American Comedy Award and was voted one of the hundred funniest comics of all time by Comedy Central He does hip things like podcast: host of Dom Irrera Live From The Laugh Factory where he interviews and commiserates with today’s comedy luminaries. He’s on TV: has guest starred on hit sitcoms such as Seinfeld, Becker, Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens. His television appearances include Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Tosh.O, The Tonight Show, Late Night with David Letterman, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and his own Comedy Central and HBO specials. Godfrey He’s on big and small screens: Zoolander, 30 Rock and recurring role on Louie TV loves him: fresh off filming the FX pilot Bronx Warrants he stars alongside Shaquille O'Neal on TruTV series, Upload Some backstory: constantly got in trouble for misbehaving and being an all-around class clown Atlantic Canada Starring Mike MacDonald and featuring Godfrey, Lynne Koplitz & Graham Chittenden Mike MacDonald Status: he’s a Legend (and he is a Canadian Comic Legend Award winner!) Godfrey Same bio as above Lynne Koplitz She’s on TV and in specials: regular on Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best?, starred on the IFC cult favorite Z Rock, featured on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn and her own special Comedy Central Presents Lynne Koplitz. She’s also a panelist on the History Channel’s History of the Joke hosted by Lewis Black and is a featured comedian in Jenny McCarthy’s Epix comedy special Dirty, Sexy, Funny. She’s on radio: Koplitz can be heard co-hosting the radio show Star Talk with legendary astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson. Career stepping stone: became the first woman since Roseanne Barr to sign a development deal with legendary producer Tom Werner at Warner Bros. Graham Chittenden He is loved: one of Canada's most sought after comedians and comic writers. He (almost) wins at stuff: was nominated for a 2012 Canadian Comedy Award. He’s on TV and he writes: has appeared in numerous comedy specials, including his own Comedy Now!, which aired on The Comedy Network, hosted MTV Showtown, alongside Paul "The Intern" Lemieux, Sheena and Nicole, delivering and deliberating current events and has appeared on MATCH GAME on The Comedy Network. He has written for CBC's The Debaters, the Genie Awards, and Just For Laughs, as well as working as a creative consultant for Mr. D. He’s a highway man: was the feature act on John Pinette’s Still Hungry tour, a sold-out theatre tour spanning the country from Ottawa to Vancouver Island as well as appearing on Debra DiGiovanni’s Late Bloomer Tour from Newfoundland to Toronto.
