29er NATIONALS 13 - 16 JAN 2011 ORGANISING AUTHORITY : CHENNAI ACADEMY JOINTLY WITH - Class Association NOTICE OF RACE 1. RULES The event will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 and the 29er Class Rules.

2. ADVERTISING Advertising will be restricted to Category A.

3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1. The event is open to members of a club affiliated to the YAI and whose annual subscription/dues are fully paid up.

3.2. The event is open to sailors born in 1993 or thereafter.

3.3. Sailors born prior to 1993 are also eligible to participate in the event but will not be awarded any positions or prizes.

3.4. Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee, to the Organizing Secretary by Fax or e mail by 03 Jan 2011 .

3.5 All participants are required to be Annual Associate members of the YAI and are required to provide evidence of Annual Membership at the registration.

4. FEES The entry fee is Rs 500 per sailor.

5. SCHEDULE

5.1. Registration: Day and date - 13 Jan 2011 From 1000 To 1200

5.2. Practice Race: Day and date - 13 Jan 2011 – 1500H

5.2. Dates of racing: 14, 15 & 16 Jan 2011.

5.3. Number of races: 12 races are scheduled to be conducted.

5.4. The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 1400H.

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available after 1000H on 13 Jan 2011 at the race office.

7. VENUE

7.1. The racing area will be in the Bay of Bengal just outside the Chennai Harbour.

8. THE COURSES Windward/Leeward courses will be sailed.

9. SCORING

9.1. 6 races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

9.2. (a) When fewer than 7 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

(b) When from 7 to 10 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

(c) When more than 10 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

10. SUPPORT BOATS Support boats shall be marked with a white flag.

11. HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS Do not apply.

12. DIVING EQUIPMENT AND PLASTIC POOLS Do not apply.

13. RADIO COMMUNICATION Excepting in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

14. PRIZES

14.1. Prizes will be given as:

(a) 1st ,2nd and 3rd place overall with 10 or more entries.

(b) 1st and 2nd place overall with 7 to 9 entries

(c) 1 place only with less than 7 entries

14.2. For purposes of determining prizes as per14.1 above, the number of entries will be restricted as per para 3.2 above

15. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the event.
