You will find the online LGV application form here: http://www.abbeyroadtanks.com/go/vacancies/hgv-drivers/hgv-application-form Unemployment in the Liverpool city region showed little change over the past month, according to the latest Governent figures. The number of people claiming jobseeker‟s allowance (JSA) in Liverpool, Sefton, Wirral, Knowsley, Halton and St Helens fell last month from 53,352 to 53,118 – a drop of just 0.44%. And year-on-year the numbers claiming JLA increased by 5.6%. Of the six city region boroughs, Knowsley showed the biggest fall, with the numbers claiming JSA dropping from 6,112 last month to 5,791. The figures also revealed a record number of people working part-time because they could not find a full-time job. Knowsley Council claims its Knowsley Works initiative is almost certainly a major factor in the fall in unemployment. A spokeswoman for the council said: “Over the past few months, there have been a number of big recruitment drives for some of the borough‟s best known companies including Jaguar Land Rover, IAC, Decoma and CASA Care, which have seen more than 2,000 jobs created. Outsourcing company Aegis is to open a base at Bruntwood's City Tower building in Manchester which will employ 600 people. Aegis global chief executive Aparup Sengupta said that the new contact centre will open later this year and will be part of a wider expansion which will see the firm employing some 3,000 people across Europe. Aegis, which has more than 50,000 employees across 50 locations, is part of Indian conglomerate The Essar Group. The company offers a range of customer support services to major business sectors including banking, insurance, telecoms, hospitality and healthcare. Personal care and household cleaning products manufacturer McBride is planning to close its site in Burnley in an efficiency drive that will cost hundreds of jobs. The closure next March will affect 350 people - 300 full time workers and 50 temporary staff. Production at the site, on Windermere Avenue in the town, will be moved to other company facilities in the region including Middleton Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service is planning to cut 103 jobs, saving £3.7m over three years. The service's budget is being reduced by £9m following a reduction in government funding. It is hoped that the job cuts will be achieved through voluntary redundancies and retirements. One hundred construction jobs and 80 permanent jobs will be created in a new uranium processing facility at Urenco‟s Capenhurst site in Chester. The Tails Management Facility (TFM) is scheduled to be completed and operational by 2015.
